my experiences and things i have noticed/liked/disliked.
tablet has been sitting idle for pretty much 10 hours since the update...still stiiing at 97%
screen fades when turning off
daydream feature is pretty cool on the phone...it sits in a dock all day, after about 2 minutes the clock (or whatever scene you have set) pops up.....very nice IMO.
gallery was working fine for me viewing and editing photoes. could even view photosphere images that i beamed to the N7 from my nexus.
clock app is great....love it.
Lock screen.....not a big fan yet. i dont like the fact that it shows the "next page" over when i wake the device....i dont like the smaller lock ring, i dont like the google now trigger being in the navigation bar. the lock screen widgets are really limited right now, i expect devs to be able to have their own widgets to be placed on the lock screens. I DO like being able to go anywhere outside of the lock ring to unlock.
quick settings need some work....they are nice, dont get me wrong...but right now they just take you quickly to the settings...they dont actually turn on the wifi, or BT, just takes you to the settings which you then turn them on. also setting an alarm creates a new "setting" in there...but tapping on it just closes the quick settings and doesn't take you to your alarms. hoping custom ROM makers can fix/enhance these
home launcher seems faster and smoother than before.
there are other little animation changes here and there (multitasking button for instance takes your current app and "slides" it in there at the bottom)
not a fan of the quicksettings and notifications being seperate drop-downs....maybe in landscape and on larger tablets, but not on the smaller screen and in portrait mode. doesn't make sense to me.
things to note:
phone camera is awesome. photosphere is great
phone comes with "browser" app and not "Chrome"
yes there are apps that FC since the update...its like this every time. give the devs more than 2 hours to update their apps and you will be OK. this is the nature of being on the cutting edge of software.
overall, i really like the update. I do think google has gone a little too far with the lock screen changes this time around. they are nice and easy enough to customize and add and move around, but i think 4.1 did it right. i could unlock, launch the camera, or launch G-NOW all by starting my finger at the lock ring....now i have 3 different places for 3 different functions. also the lock screen widgets give a "bloated" feel to the OS right from the get-go.
