4.3 OTA

Still no one receiving the OTA? I sideloaded JB on my phone a few months ago and went as expected, but really was hoping to have the OTA by now for the N7. I understand there are millions to roll out, so will sit back and keep hitting check for update.

On vacation no computer with me only my n7 so no side loading for me. I hate waiting....

Maybe we should find something else to talk about. Then, when the update isn't looking, we'll grab it!

Just an idea.

I so want an excuse to treat myself to the next gen N7, but if I'm brutally honest, my current N7 does everything I need in a tablet. That's why I'm beyond eager for this update; I bet the people looking forward to buying the new one couldn't really care less lol.

I flashed the image with fastboot commands.

-Notes:D

-Noticeably Faster
--Downloads from Store faster.
---Scrolling smoother
----Not a single lag
-Ran a few benchmarks:
--3D Mark (Ice Storm) - 3567
---3D Mark (Ice Storm Extreme) - 1920
-Quadrant Standard (Run Full Benchmark) - 3427
-Antutu 3DRating (Run Benchmark) - 2836

Stil nothing here yet. I have been checking so often that I think I am wearing a slight groove in my screen. I am tempted to just Sideload it but honestly I have more patience than I do free time, although I don't have much of either right now.

Obligatory:

Tried doing sideloading through the SDK, but I keep hitting roadblocks. Since I'm not knowledgeable in programming at all, I'm not going to keep tinkering. Either I'll just have to be patient, or I'll just go to Best Buy and get a 2nd generation N7 considering they're already selling them. My two local stores have them listed as "Available for Pick-Up".

2 roadblocks i hit were that I needed to install the Google USB Drivers. Once that was done, my device was recognized. However there was an issue where it wouldn't recognize when in recover mode until I found this,

Apparently there's a bug in some Nexus 7 devices and they wont show up properly until you edit the android_winusb.inf and add the line at the bottom that's highlighted and update the driver. Once I did that, it worked like a charm.

I tried to install the OTA zip via TWRP, I'm getting the following error:
set_perm: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater_binary in zip '/sdcard/ab67ca07c4b2e03eca795ada10ff041b77fbb7bf.signed-nakasi-JWR66V-from-JDQ39.ab67ca07.zip'

Updating partition details...

Trying to reboot hangs at the colorful 'X' logo.

I'm afraid I may be borked, but wanted to seek advice before I wipe back to factory image.

I sideloaded using the instructions at Android Police yesterday. Was pretty simple once I figured out that I needed to add ./ before the adb sideload command on my Mac.

FWIW, I get the same error trying to sideload via adb.

You might want to read this. It is not going out to everyone yet. Only some people for now.

Thanks for posting that. I'm going to quote what was said there because maybe if people actually _thought_ about it, they would stop acting so bloody childish about not receiving their ota update the second the new release is announced:

"OTAs intentionally start very slowly, both in terms of numbers and in terms of timing. The goal is to try to identify catastrophic failures that wouldn't have been found in testing. Those things can happen, unfortunately. From the point where a phase of the OTA is sent out, it takes at least 2 days to collect enough information to make a decision about the next phase.

Phase by phase, the OTA gets exponentially deployed to more and more people, up to a point where enough people are running it to be able to extrapolate even rare issues to the entire population, at which point the flow gets much faster.

The point of going phase by phase is explicitly to be able to stop the process in case something goes wrong, and that's why there can't even be an ETA."

Finally Google pushed out 4.3 through IT'S, it's right after 7am Auckland, NZ.
