4.3 Update WARNING........

I received my HTC One 2 weeks ago. For the past week I was afraid to download the 4.3 update due to the reports in these forums of all the problems. Finally I bit the bullet yesterday and did the upgrade. I must say the upgrade went very smooth and I don't have any of the problems that are being reported here. I did not do a factory reset either. My battery life is just as good if not a bit better as before the upgrade. Wi-Fi works perfectly. The only problem that I do have is that no matter what music player I use my phone will play each song twice. Then it moves onto the next song and plays that twice, etc. I've used Beats as well as Power Amp paid version. But that is the only problem I have seen.

Hi there I'm happy for you doing the update and the music playing each song twice is a bit of a downfall for me cos I love my music I'm gonna just stick to 4.2

Factory reset will help you with this issue. The android system in 4.3 is changed (symlinks etc) so you'll have to reset your phone to use it how it's supposed to be.

We'll be here if you need any help. The Geek Squad follows the information they get from others and we get our knowledge by our own experiences.

Thank you, but for members in this forum my lovely new HTC one would have been sent away for god knows how long when all it needed was a Factory reset (no it didn't, according to said twerp at Geek Squad) hopefully the update will be along shortly.

I figured out the duplicate song playing issue without having to do a factory reset. I just think a FR is not needed. It had to do with the way Android 4.3 groups the file tree. Once I figured out how to select only my music folder once instead of the default twice I was good to go.

I did a factory reset yesterday, I'm seeing improved battery and contact picture in messaging are appearing just fine

Updated my unlocked HTC One to 4.3 today, and only issue I am having is with HTCs custom keyboard which keeps crashing every 5 secs giving me error msg ''HTC sense input error''! I had to turn it off, and switch to SwiftKey, everything else is working OK so far. Anyone else experiencing this error after 4.3 update?

Just wondering if recalibrating the keyboard might help? Probably won't but might be worth a try

How did you update to 4.3
Did you reset your phone afterwards or not.
Try this: settings-apps-swipe 2 times To The Right to see all application-find htc sense input-click on it and delete data

Then use the htc keyboard. Could work after this

Just an update. I did a factory reset on my phone, and it didn't really do a whole lot. The contact pictures were fixed, but my WiFi was still dropping and my battery was still worse than on 4.1. Then after a few days, my phone stopped receiving cell signal. I took it into Sprint and they spent 2 hours trying to make it work before they gave up and gave me a replacement One. Luckily its on 4.1, and I am not going to update it...

Nice to hear you got a replacement. Enjoy

After living with 4.3 a bit, I am finding that there is something funky with the way the battery monitor is calibrated.

I can charge it up to full (according to the percentage), but it will fall to 98 or 97 percent within a minute without use. From then, discharge goes on normally where I can see slightly more than 5% over a handfull of hours if I'm not using the phone.

This happens whether I'm taking the phone of the charger first thing in the morning , or unplugging it just after the green light comes on.

I don't know about all the details you mention but overall battery life is impressive. Here's a screen shot from last night. I used my phone all without worrying about battery dying. The time below includes about 1.5 hours of netflix, several hours of my email and instant messaging/paging my hospital uses.

Overall battery life is awesome for me, just the first 2-3% seem to come off disproportionately fast. I think it's because the battery is not fully charged despite what the meter says.

So I think there's a battery issue aswell and the WiFi fault also why did HTC not fix the bugs before bringing out the terrible update
