The OTAs always seem to reach me after everyone else:/ You think living in CA you would be one of the first to receive the update.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...our-unlocked-nexus-5-4-4-3-a.html#post3690093What's the best way to update to 4.4.3. if you are rooted (and wish to remain rooted)?
Flash it via ADB. This is the same file as the OTA so your data will be safe. Download the file. I rename the file to update.zip so I don't need to type as much.
Boot your phone in to Recovery
Select "apply update from ADB"
In ADB on PC, sideload the update with "adb sideload update.zip)"

It takes 5 minutes, tops.
That is if you have yourPCcomputer setup for adb from prior updates.
Note linux users, specifically Arch users. Setting up your PC is nothing more than "yaourt android-sdk-platform-tools". Then just run the adb commands with sudo to sideload 4.4.2 to 4.4.3. Worked for me.Yes, but that is a big if. Seems like a technologically unnecessary dependency.
Agreed, your phone automatically checks for updates. It will let you know when it's available. People act like this update is the second coming of Christ. It only fixes small things that most people wouldn't notice anyway. Imagine the craziness when Android 4.5/5.0 is "due" to come out. People act like it will change their lives. Nope, you'll only be left wanting for the next update....... it never ends, instead of just enjoying your device.
how to install using this zip file? will i lose any data?
I'm getting an unexpected contents error for chrome.apk when trying to flash the update.zip. I'm guessing its because I uninstalled Chrome through Titanium Backup a while back. I tried to install it back as a system app (also through TB) but still getting the error. If you are rooted and in the stock ROM with custom recovery You can flash as you would any other ROM. If you get an error, you may need to flash the system.img from 4.4.2. After that, the update should load and your data preserved. As with all updates, installs, etc. Be sure to backup just in case.
