I did root, the long way around though. I tried to downgrade to NC5 from NG6 and got a android.process.acore loop. Forced me to reset the phone as I couldn't get to the settings area to clear the data on my contacts. And when I did it came up NC5, so I used Towelroot V3, installed SuperSU and manually changed the name of the 2 files to backups. That stopped the updates cold.
I did eventually download Titanium Backup and did a few things. I also unlocked my SD card with NextApp SDFix. After I did the reset the problem I was having with my 3G data not hooking up went away. That was the only good thing that came out of the reset. It would have been nice if I could have downgraded the OS without getting the acore loop.
SDM.apk and FWUpgrade.apk
