4G is down on phone, but data card 4g works!?

Yes, my sprint 4g usb modem works just fine, so 4g service works in my area and has worked in my area for a year or so (chicago)....however, my phone won't connect to 4g...it keeps trying, but won't connect...any idea's why that would happen? Tried turning off phone, removing battery, turning off data, turning it back on, resetting 4g, resetting and updating profile, and finally I jumped on one phone while holding the phone above my head - still no luck.

Any idea's? 4g has always worked in my area with my phone and aircard, but the last couple days, not on my phone.

On your settings page, does the 4G say in blue "Unknown" instead of "Disconnected"?

mine would connect yesterday, but it would not transmit data.

but i think it was because of the rom i had, it works now.
maybe yours will too since its a new day

The first Epic I got on launch day had 4G that didn't work. I tried it in Syracuse, Rochester, Boston (person in the car right behind me with an EVO could connect) and New York when it went live. Eventually I had to just get a new phone. I don't know if it breaks down after a while but there have been some duds

mine was a dud. worked for a few days then it crapped out on me. if your 4g status says unknown, start saving your data. it's gonna need to be replaced. the quality of the epic phones are junk. i'm on my 5th epic now, and the button on the side you press in to light up the display is not sticking out as much as it used to.

ugh. i should have stuck with an evo.
