4G is live in Houston

I have 4G at my office in the Galleria area (San Felipe and Augusta) this morning. Pretty pathetic speeds though - 399kbps down and 360kbps up. That IS 10x faster than my 3G speeds though  If this is what I've been waiting for then it may really be time to start thinking about ponying up a little extra money for a different carrier. I'll give it some time to see if the kinks can't be ironed out, but after seeing LTE on AT&T and Verizon I was expecting something a little bit better.

I'm getting intermittent 4G at my office downtown today that is extremely slow. Maxes out at 1mbps. Very disappointing when I was getting 5mbps 4G here for a day about a month ago when they were testing it.

4G up at hwy 6 and 529 on Saturday afternoon.

My peaks have been:
7.8 mb down
6.8 mb up
50ms ping

Restarting my phone has made my 4G connection stick downtown and I'm getting 1-2 mbps now. Better than nothing I guess.

According to the latest Sprint info, Houston is "Live" with 14% of the towers online. The scheduled completion for the rest of the city is Feb 2013. I think I may be taking the Evo LTE back and turning the Evo 4G back on.

Getting 5.5 mbps right now at work which is good enough for me to stick with Sprint if it keeps up.

Daily commute from kingwood to reliant all eastex fwy. No 4g in kingwood. 4g in humble (10Mbps) passing deerbrook mall. 3G from beltway to Downtown. Downtown 4g 4-5Mbps and 3G again getting on 288. No 4g by reliant. Work wifi 18Mbps. .

Had 4G in Humble in front of Deerbrook Mall on the way to work at 7AM, and at 6PM no 4G in that area.

No 4G down here at all so far, and the 3G has been outrageously slow for most of the day. Trying not to get too down on Sprint, but the feeling that I may have bought a high performance car but can only drive it on a narrow dirt road full of potholes is creeping in. Hopefully in the next few days I will feel really stupid for posting this, but the possibility that it might be months or even a year before I get to fully utilize the capabilities of this phone is kind of discouraging, especially given everything pointed to having LTE available by now. Kind of sucks.

I work in the Webster area (Nasa Road 1 intersection with 45 South) and live in Pasadena area (225 and allen genoa) and I went shopping around Gulfgate area (45 north intersection with woodridge) Here is what i observed:

While at work, 4G intermittently came on and off. I never stayed on long enough for me to do a speed test. While at home, I never managed to get 4G at all. While at HEB Gulfgate, however, I decided to update the PRL and soon as I did, I got a nice steady 4g connection for as long as I was there.
Just about this steady:

However, on the way back home, just when 610 south becomes 225, I lost 4G, and never got it back. My conclusion: Not all towers are on yet. I think only some areas have 4G so far. Also, if you look around different forums, I am about the third person who claims awesome 4G in the 610 south loop east area.

I finally got my first taste of 4G on my way home from work yesterday at Eldridge and 1960. Pulled into the WM parking lot when I saw it. Ran speed test, checked a few emails and loaded a few web sites. It was pretty quick. Over 10Mbit down. Held as long as I was there. Headed on home and lost it before getting to Willowbrook. Never came back. At least I know my phone does pick it up when a signal exists.

Some roll out for launch day. Hopefully better of the next few days.

Anyone who wasn't getting 4G after the initial rollout getting it now? Still nothing down here by NASA, and the 3G has gotten horrible since Sunday, usually under 1mb, even had a .05 yesterday. That was awesome.

Any good news in the spring Klein area- 77379

Humble has a little spot by the Sprint store that has 4G and nothing anywhere else that I have found.....and the 3G is pathetic.

I have been with Sprint for many years and I am sick and tired of their lack of service....there is no excuse for having such a lousy 3G signal...I can be patient and wait for the LTE but the lousy 3G is about to make this a deal breaker for me. At times this phone is darn near unusable.
