4G is live in Houston

from what I hear they will only be turning on 4g in heavily populated areas for now so I'm expecting it around central/downtown area to show up first.

Where did you hear this from? I I hope it's true though..

I've got consistent 4G just west of The Woodlands (around 2978). I am technically in Magnolia. The 4G signal is stronger outside of course.

Did a software update and had 4g for all of a minute at 5megs. Now back to 400-500k 3g. Still better than the 14k I was getting yesterday.

Got LTE for a while in downtown on Thursday, but nothing happening for me yet today in Montrose...

Is there anything we can do to manually force our phones to look for 4g or connect to 4g?

Try going to settings>system update and do a prl and profile update.

I just picked up my new white EVO LTE today, but I haven't seen the 4G symbol yet... I'm in Sugar Land.

Anyone, have 4g near the galleria, south of Ritchman I am good but once you get to the galleria 4g starts to drop..evo 4g lte...PS how is evo and lte not pre installed in the Swype keyboard

I was in Spring/Klein area (77379) today and couldn't get it. My brother did and he works in the same zip code.

I went down to westheimer/galleria area for breakfast and also couldn't get it.

Finally popped up when I was on 290 near the outlet malls. only flashed on for a second and then I lost it.

Im in Austin now, and no 4g here.

Drove down the west side this morning from 249 @ Louetta to I10 at Kirkwood. No LTE along the entire route.

I am now at my office on Katy freeway. I can SEE the Sprint tower out my office window and have 6 bars of 3G service. 50kbps data speed. If this is sprints network vision, its really time to find a new network as this is NOT what Sprint promised.

Its time to face the facts that Sprint's supposed launch of LTE yesterday pretty much did not happen. I predict by the end of today it will hit the national media. Actually surprised AC has not picked up the story yet. The reports are pretty much the same in Dallas and Atlanta as here in Houston. NO LTE except in a few very spotty areas and connections that will not persist. IE no LTE in use for the vast majority of the launch areas.

Have you tried toggling airplane mode and then back to LTE/CDMA? I have had to do that when it goes to 3G...then it finds 4G signal.

Yes, tried all that. Rebooting, LTE on and off, updates etc. No LTE service.

And from reports all over the internet, I am not alone. If the network is actually up, then there are a BUNCH of defective EVO and S3 handsets that will need replacing in the next few days.

Trouble is, reports show that the units in the sprint store don't work either. I plan to visit a repair center on my way home this evening and make a point of this for notation in my account that the service is not working and they likely have no idea why.

Ran a couple more tests after I hit send on the last message. Back down to a crawl. Top speed of about .75m. Sure hope that they get it together soon. On the bright side, since it appears that Sprint screwed something up, those of us that thought our areas were without LTE still have hope of being included when they ever figure out wtf they are doing.

I think only a small percentage of the towers are on...more will be coming online soon..that's what I read at another forum...It's like that here in Fort Worth and Arlington...didn't get a signal at all in Arlington...but great speeds in Fort Worth...
