4G LTE Supposedly on in Houston

According to my sprint rep, 4G will supposedly be active tomorrow here in Houston....keep your fingers crossed.

Okay, it's now tomorrow in Houston. While I am getting fairly impressive 3G performance this morning down by NASA, my face is turning blue from holding my breath on 4G. One odd thing that may (or may not, wtf knows?) indicate that something is up; my 3G indicator is acting strangely. Even while downloading the arrows are staying greyed out, and much of the time the 3G itself is grey.

I think I'll switch from holding my breath to crossing my fingers though.

Sitting in Cypress (NW Houston).

Coverage maps show I am in a strong LTE area (indoors and outdoors).

Nothing the first week it launched. I called TS and they tried many things (restart phone, PRL update, etc.) Nothing. I go into a Local Sprint owned store today and I listen as they sell people of LTE. I politely asked a salesperson and he finally confesses that it was a "soft" launch in Houston and not a FULL launch and that it is available in PARTS of Houston and to be patient.

Uh yeah, there are many people who bought wi-max phones in hopes of full coverage.

I have 3 family lines waiting to upgrade, but I'm not paying the buy a 4G phone and HOPE for coverage game with Sprint.

Update your coverage maps!

Yep, what they are doing is very deceitful. Unless you check sites like this, you don't find that out until after you buy a phone.

All carriers have launched LTE when less than 40% of their towers are completed. Sprint decided to launch sooner because customers complained they were blocking completed towers. Now customers are complaining when towers aren't completed in their area.

I drove through Houston 2 weeks ago and 4G/LTE never lit up once on my phone. Guess I was driving on the wrong side of the Rail Road tracks!

The difference with that was, when VZW launched their LTE covered the whole city of Atlanta from perimeter to perimeter with very few gaps in between. Then they came back in and blanketed the whole city. What Sprint did here was turn on a few towers initially which covered literally nothing and are turning on one tower at a time. It's pathetic! I can go 10-15 miles in either direction of a tower with LTE before I pick up another connection. I don't even keep it on at this point, there's no need. I wouldn't even call this a "launch", more like a trickle.

Its actually worse than that, the few towers that were launched back in mid July have not functioned in weeks. What little LTE service there was has evaporated.

Yet they continue to advertise they have full coverage for the 5 major city launch markets.

This false advertising is going to catch up with them....

There is no reliable LTE service on Sprint in Houston regardless of what Sprint is trying to sell.
