4G switch?

Does anyone know if there is a 4GLTE widget or toggle switch that can turn the 4G on/off from the home screen without going through the settings menu?

No I know about turning the mobile data on and off. I am looking for a widget or something that switches from the cdma/lte mode to cdma only. I don't have 4G coverage at work and don't want to burn the extra battery while my phone attempts to connect to 4G when I know that it isn't there.

i dont really know how to discribe it... it is a phone automation app.

you designate different triggers to spur you phone to do different things.
you can teach your phone different location you frequent using cell phone tower polling or gps and entering or leaving that area can be a trigger.

turning off 4g is an option if i remember correctly.

i us it an love it. when i get home wifi turns on automaticly and when i leave it turns off. i love it! check it out.

If you don't have a 4g coverage area, then you shouldn't worry about your battery being used for you are not going to have 4g service.

But wouldn't my phone continue to look for 4G even though it isn't there? Kind of like leaving wifi on when there is none?

Yes, it will drain the battery more if 4G is on when you aren't in a 4G area, the chip will continue to look for service when there is none.

Personally, I have not seen that much of a difference with leaving it on (I live in a 3G-only area while I work and commute through a 4G area) but my fiancee doesn't work and she says turning her GNex to 3G only makes her battery last longer (verses leaving it in 4G/3G mode).

A toggle app was just released for the GNex that will do this, but I am not sure if it will work with the Strat. I guess I could always try it and see.

I wish the out of the box wi-fi programming was smart enough to account for your location and turn off wi-fi automatically, i've gotten used to using a toggle but still, smartphones are supposed to be smart haha.

And that's exactly what he wants, is to save battery haha.
While there's no switch, you can turn off 4G in the Wireless Networks menu and switch to CDMA only. That's what I do if I'm at work or in class and not gonna be on my phone.

Dial **583 and choose CDMA mode... Global mode is 4G/3G (default), LTE is LTE only (no text even JUST lte) and CDMA is 3G (txting also).

nice post haven't tried that one yet, but I know from older motorola phones there were hidden dialer menus too.

It is the 1st app I paid for. It will manage wifi & 4G for you. It has done an excellent job for me and made a big difference in my battery life..
