4G

LTE isn't and can't be just a software update and it's not going to be. LTE runs on a GSM network where as everything else Verizon runs on is CDMA (1X & 3G). Any phone that has LTE will and must have an LTE SIM card installed. There is no way/chance the Incredible will ever ever get 4G as it lacks the supporting hardware and ability to even have a SIM card put in the phone. This is all coming from a Verizon employee btw :p

EDIT: And by the way Sprints 4G is COMPLETELY different from Verizons. For example the EVOs 4G would not ever be able to run on Verizons 4G. k. done for realz now. sorry if I'm coming off as a ****** lol

/Steps off soapbox

Good info !!

I was thinking that LTE ran the same frequencies but with a multiple carrier
radio and wider bandwidth than current 3G to support the data speeds..

Verizon has always let me renew contract after 13 months. You don't get new every two price but two year contract price.
