4k 10 minute limit... is that still a thing?

Update, so far the s9+ has gone through 3.5 recordings of 4k 30fps 10 minute time limits, and it hasn't had any issues. It is getting a bit warm, measuring with my infrared it shows 103.6 degrees on the back in the hottest spot where the red laser is at. It hasn't gotten any hotter than that though.

That article is only speculation, just as your opinion is. They claim the possibility of several reasons for the limit on the S9 before only discussing heat as a possibility, not as fact. They never discussed the other possibilities (whatever those may be, they didn't say), and they also pointed out that Samsung did not respond to a request for more information on why the limit is there.

And it is a fact that as technology advances, it's very possible for a faster processor to run cooler doing the same work as a slower/older one. If heat were the issue, then I would expect the limit to be based on that, recording as long as the system can handle it before the temps become an issue. An arbitrary set time limit doesn't sound logical when you can immediately restart the recording without a cool down period.

Not speculation. As I said before, the limit exists to prevent overheating.

Thanks, and that goes back to my earlier comments that just because it was a concern back then doesn't mean it is a concern now. If it is, it is, but so far all the claims about the limit on the S10 are just speculation and opinion. Even the Best Buy demo video above may be open to question. He only showed the first bit of recording and the lack of a time remaining counter. My LG G4 was like that, having a hard coded limit but didn't show the time remaining. I think we're going to have to wait for hands on results from users.

Correct. It also doesn't mean that thermal management was the only reason, etc. The link above is evidence that for a phone in 2017, that reason was given. It is not safe to infer that the reason was the whole truth, or that it is still applicable for a 2019 device.

I think we're going to have to wait for hands on results from users.

This will answer whether or not the limit exists, but not necessarily why it exists.

Maybe you need to try it again in Florida or in a location where the outside temperature is already near 100°f.

I would if I could find it again, been looking trying too. But its a fact that the Exynos processors do not have this limit while the snapdragon does on Samsung devices within the same body. That should tell you enough. I found it on my phone yesterday googling but not having luck finding it again. Will keep looking.

Yes, there were several and I don't have time to keep digging any more. I post enough other references to make a point and if you don't believe them, so be it. I am tired of this back and forth stuff in this topic.

Well, without any links, it's impossible to know exactly what they said, how they said it, how they know anything, and who they are. I'd be interested in reading these articles. For all I know it's just some guy with a beef against Samsung just throwing stuff out there. Your anecdotal tests don't prove that they didn't uncover risks in a lab and decided to be cautious. Looks like we've taken this as far as it can go without additional evidence.

I am sure you can find what you want if you google it. I don't have the time to do it any longer or the need. I did when I was in the discussion with that other user, and can't locate it any more or however I searched for it before. But it's out there.
