4k 10 minute limit... is that still a thing?

Lol you don't have to educate me on PC stuff .

My question is .. is Samsung running that? That's the part we are not sure on. I'd be stunned if they still were seeing as how old it is.

I honestly would be surprised myself if they were and haven't moved on.

Actually technically he is right in the world of computers with fat32 you can’t go any larger than 4gb. So it has to break it down. That may have been the reason before or not I am not sure. Do you have proof of it being heat management because I haven’t seen anything documented of that?

That is not the reason. 4k time limits on Android have always been due to overheating and thermal limits. Samsung hides it, but Sony was very upfront with a warning message that the device was overheating and video recording had to be stopped.

Do you have anything from Samsung that states this was the issue as well? Many cameras for years have recorded 4K for long periods with no issues.

The only thing I have been able to find and it's from Samsung, that it's due to the battery itself getting too hot.

Manufacturer is irrelevant. This is a hardware issue that all Snapdragon devices have.

Tell you what, once you can back your statements up, we will believe you. Till then, stop this non-sense.

And if it was a hardware limitation, why is it that you can start another 10 minute video right away with no issues?

Drop your attitude. You've been a member here for what, a year? These problems have existed for at least 5 years. Its a well known issue that 4k video causes overheating issues. Just because you refuse to acknowledge it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist and isn't the reason for time limits.

I don't have the attitude, you do and everyone can see it in all your posts. I am trying to have a conversation here but all you keep saying it's this and that and that's it and nothing to back what you are saying up.

Length of time here means nothing. And I asked you to provide some form of evidence what you say is true. Again, if it was hardware, why can we just start another video for another 10 minutes with no issues?

Sometimes something becomes "well known" based on rumor and supposition that just gets passed around. I see it every day. You may be right, but it would help to see where your info came from. The fact that you can immediately start a new 10 min 4K 60fps recording after the first one stops is a valid question.

Quoting myself, this seems to be an answer from Samsung that supports the "heat" explanation -

EDIT: No idea what's going on. I keep pasting a Samsung.com website response that says it's "heat in the device and battery", but every time I post it Android Central changes the URL.

Yeah, I already posted that link a few posts up.

I think the site is forwarding it to Samsung after you click on it to hide another websites link.
Interesting - Using the Android Central app it works. Using the AC Forums app it does not.

Length is limited by heat. As in, it's limited to 10 minutes to prevent overheating. If your device actually gets too hot, it won't let you start a new recording

Like many here and myself included, I have started many 10 minute videos in a row with no issues, and there is a root workaround to turn it off and it can record all the time with no issues.

Doing more research it seems Samsung does this on the snapdragons to prevent them from looking better over the Exynos processors and it has nothing to do with heat. It’s more to not hurt the sales of their other cpus.

This seems to be a bug with the AC Forums app. Sometimes it'll change a url when you try to post a comment. Next time try leaving off the "http" and see if that helps.
