4k 10 minute limit... is that still a thing?

I only see blue letters in the video section (which I can successfully change video resolution) but I guess I'm brain farting the picture resolution...just ain't seeing it.

Looking for this like from the previous phones:

yeah i asked that question in a thread I made. No one could answer.

Looks like there isnt one. From what ive tried taking pics on my S10+ and S9+, it's set to max/bigger size for each ratio.

Hey guys, coming from a Galaxy S8 there is a 4K time limit no I don't know if that is due to the Heat or the Snapdragon of this phone

Does the S10 have a 4k recording time limit as well?

In my testing, I've come up with the following on my S10:

4K with 60fps: 11 min on internal and SD card
4K: 12 min on internal and SD card
1080 with 60fps: 20 min on internal and SD card
1080: waiting to test but expecting it will not be limited.

In my testing, I recorded for 40 minutes at each resolution without any issue. The only issue is the phone breaks the 40 minutes into the chunks listed above. This is super annoying as I'm trying to record a single 40 minute speaker without going into post-processing on a separate video editor.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Welcome to a forum. You don't get to dictate what's discussed here. Considering no one has this device yet, this question is premature. People answered it from their experience with other Samsung devices.

Nicely put. @Rolex reviews you could always look it up online. My guess would be that it’s still there, because a 10 minute video , especially at 4K resolution takes up a lot of memory.

Also, the limit exists for import tax purposes. If these devices allowed unlimited recordings, they could be considered a video camera subject to higher taxes.

Heard this discussed on Leo's show.

I doubt it, considering you can record unlimited in lower resolutions.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes it will still have a recording limit. 10 Mins at the least or mayber more but not much. This is an android software limitation and a SOC limitation which is a problem because of how many android manufactures use the software. Since Google makes it generic to cover all phones their is no tight integration between software and hardware, like on the Apple side. The snapdragon is just taxed to much and will heat up, you don't want that going on for to long. Also a faster storage controller would do wonders in this regard.

I think back to also when Samsung exynos soc didn't have the same limitation because they could tailor it more to the chipset which was their own.

I have the new OnePlus 7 Pro with UFS 3.0, which I would assume would be fast enough to keep up with the recording capability, but I still have a 10 minute limit.

It's annoying because I do YouTube videos and would like to upload them at 4k60fps but they are always longer then 10 mins, and when I merge the clips together the audio is always out of sync. So I just stick with 1080p60fps.

Galaxy S9+'s have the 5 minute (4k @ 60fps) / 10 minute (1080p @ 60fps or 4k @ 30fps) limit.

Besides running slow from the start even after uninstalling and re-installing every app, this limitation soured me on Samsung products for a long time. I've lost precious moments that I will never get back because important events in real life rarely conform to 5 or 10 minute limits. Even repeatedly pressing the record button can take several seconds in between stopping the previous recording and starting a new one, leaving ugly gaps in footage. Add to that Bixby and all the cruft Samsung shoehorned into this phone, and this device is a user experience catastrophe.

Due to an insurance claim, I'm getting an S10 in the mail today. I'll post back whether it's still an issue or not.
