After flashing the 5.0.2 factory image without a hitch (also unlocked, rooted with custom recovery basically for greenify), the n7 was way more usable with great battery life (more or less 8 hours mixed use and almost 0% battery drain on deep sleep) than on KitKat but still suffered some problems: the occasional hangup / pause if more than two apps were in ram, the keyboard with that eternal lag, needing to turn off location services to reduce lag, and needing to use fast reboot every time after waking from deep sleep to ensure smoothness.
Just recently flashed the M-Kernel a73, and boy does it wisp those leftover problems away! There is slight, minor, tiny, minuscule rough edge after a cold boot but once it gets running what you get is a 2012 spec'd tablet that runs lollipop like a champ! Out the 'box', it just works.
I'll give it some time before commenting on battery life.
Don't wait for ota or settle for the stock kernel, geek out on the Nexus as it was meant to be!
