Are you talking about screen-on time? 3 hrs 11 min of screen-on time is on the lower end of average for the N5 (I'm usually on track for 3.5-4 hrs). That in itself is not totally shocking, given the average battery that the N5 has. As a comparison, on my Razr Maxx (the first phone that boasted a monster battery), I was still only able to get 5-6 hrs of total screen-on time on one charge (but with moderate use, I could go a full 2 days between charges). You're getting 11 hrs of screen-on time with the Note 3? That's pretty darn good, but the Note 3 does have a gargantuan battery, after all.
With the exception of Oppo with the find 7 qhd display, is the Z2 the phone of early 2014?
It trumps the S5 and the Htc One (M8) IMO.
I base this on design, Specs, and useful features.
For me as an avid movie watcher and i am passionate about music the Z2 is most certainly targeted at me and no doubt millions of others. It also has that Camera that going by reviews and pics i have seen its pretty darn good (not without niggles) but what camera on a phone doesn't have any?
I have mainly been loyal to Samsung having owned the ,S3,S4, Galaxy Mega and still have the Note 3.
But times Change and for me anyway the Sony Z2 has most certainly been the phone that has grabbed my attention. I am not fussed about heart rate monitors or fingerprint readers.
The Features/Hardware that get my attention are Camera, Decent specs, Battery, Storage and Build, and the features are good camera software, good musical playback and Audio, Nice Clean and Functional UI.
So I have had my mind swerved from Samsung although i will retain my Note 3 (its just to good for me to part with).
So based on reviews and my own opinion the Z2 is the clear overall feature focused phone of early 2014.
Well done Sony and i will look forward to having it in my collection and i will most certainly will be using it as my daily driver.

I'd say it even trumps the Oppo Find 7. The only major advantage to the Oppo is the display, which probably won't offer anything noticeable except for poor battery life and apps that look REALLY bad due to resolution differences. It also has Android 4.3 instead of 4.4.2 like the Sony, isn't waterproof, has fewer radio bands, etc. That being said, I'm considering buying the Find 7A just because it has a 5.5 inch screen but is only 75mm wide! Pretty sweet. I wish I could find more information on the camera sensor that the Oppo Find 7 uses...
It may drain the battery but hasn't it got rapid charging abilities?
Yeh the 7a seems to be the more sensible of the two, until things are refined and smoothed out qhd and 64 bit (i know the oppo doesn't have 64bit) is not all that important other than spec hungry whores having bragging rights.
Im more than happy with 1080p and i just like refinement and a media focused phone and the Z2 covers that nicely. It also has a good camera, battery is large enough and does have power saving features, stereo front facing speakers, specs mean it should be smooth and a light skin and UI seems good.
I know i have made the right choice for me.
We all have our own likes and I'm in no way slating the S5 or the M8.
I just believe that by Sony not following the trend with Fingerprint Scanner or trying to do anything to fancy with the camera they got it spot on.
Tweaks to build, upgraded specs, software enhancements yeh smooth Sony.

I'm not sure how the rapid charging will turn out. It may compensate for the swift battery drain... Assuming you aren't ever away from the proprietary charger and its rapid charging abilities. You'd have to have 2 or more. Or you could carry one with you everywhere.
My other concern is heat dissipation during the rapid charging. I work with batteries every day, and I know that rapid charging leads to intense heat. Intense heat shortens the lifespan of not only batteries, but electronic components in general. I know they are using special heat dissipating materials, but I'm almost positive that you'd need much more than that.
Not discrediting the z2, looks like one hell of a phone.
However, the z2, Samsung, and Nokia have all kinda copied the HTC and m8 (not that it's a bad thing, but true nonetheless).
M7 and the m8 have dual front facing speakers, now the z2 does.
M8 has two camera lenses, one to capture depth information and one regular one. This is designed for a bokeh like effect, which Samsung, Nokia, and even the z2 all are doing with software.
Imo, it just seems like HTC is trying new things, and these other companies see that and then implement it into their phones.
Like I said, not discrediting any of these manufacturers, these are just my opinion.
