500 images using 41GB of data - Help appreciated

Hello there!

I have a Huawei Mate 20 Lite I got in December 2018. It's 64GB and at points I've had up to 5000 photos and apps on on my phone comfortably. Currently - I've had to delete pretty much everything to the point I have little left to delete and my phone is constantly telling me I have no storage. I'm down to no additional apps on the phone and 500 photos with 7 short videos and can't download anything else. If I delete my cache data it just about let's me download WhatsApp but it won't be long before it tells me I don't even have storage to use that. I've raided through my storage and when it eventually loads it says my images are 42.20GB worth of data. I've no idea how that's possible but with no shops open for me to get it checked - I'd really appreciate any advice on how I might fix it so I can keep in touch with people. You try clearing cache in recovery? Does phone have a sd card ?

Hello, signed up now thanks No SD card that I know of and just cleared cache in recovered mode but unfortunately no change.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using Kik Messenger? That can build up an enormous cache.
