I'm new to android came from iphone

I have been having issues with my 5ghz network.. Downloads will be so slow running like 1meg sec.. High ping rate Upload is fine

If i switch to other 5ghz network everything starts working fine again, i got to switch back between the two.

I have did factory reset, exchange phone with new one, changed channel numbers

I know it's not my router, as it runs other devices just fine and never had issue with my iphone..

Is there something im missing??

Have you tried updating the router's firmware? I know you say it's not your router...but it might be. Some routers didn't 'play nice' with older Samsung phones until they updated their firmware. Have you tried the phone in a different 5GHz network to confirm? I use 5GHz at home and have had no issues with mine.

What's you router's brand? Mine's a D-Link, and it's not having issues. BUT I had a Netgear when I changed ISPs and that had issues with the S7 Edge and my Tab S. I got the D-Link and problem solved.

Try checking the channels around you with wifi analyzer (free app in the Play Store). It could crowded in your area.

5GHz is working fine at my house but only like.. 5 to 7 other networks are around me. 1472595451349.jpg

Wow, high-tech neighbors. I'm the only one with a 5GHz router :P Well, a router and I think my WiiU's controller uses 5GHz as well.

Well theirs are most 2.4 -- there is like 2-3 5GHz ones (5-7 2.4GHz ones but I can tell they're running dual band like me due to the 5g at the end of the wifi address) :).

AT&T has been handing out 2.4/5 GHz to people for modem/routers. I turned my router function off on my modem and just use my own router.

I did some more research and turns out it's netgear issue :(.. sucks i spent good money netgear nighthawk x6 r8000..

I did use app to see whats channels where being used and i picked channel nobody is using.. Now trying channel that others say that worked for them in thread i found here..

Weird. I have a R7000 Nighthawk and don't have any issues. Are they saying it's firmware related?

I also only use channels 153, 157, or 161.

Hi anon, Thanks you very much. Your reply saved me. I was having issue connecting my samsung s8 with my newly purchased Netgear R6220 router at 5GHz. After reading your review i've changed my wireless Channel to 157 instead of auto and i got the 5GHz in my phone..... I was really depressed after spending my money on 5GHz but not getting that..... Can't explain how relieved i'm now. Thanks again.
