And another one gets leaked. I'm beginning to think the ota is a myth. The HoB has been updated with a new support installer for 244 and some neat new functionality for those who want to brave the updates without a leash.

Absolutely none. From what I understand this is an attempt to get flash to work (unsuccessfully might I add) after VZW failed 242. There are no known bugs left except flash not working in some instances. Same kernel, same baseband as 242. It's just insane.

So lame!

Watch september roll by and once again no OTA. Anyone willing to bet against that being the case? ;)

The leaks are fine IMO for ICS on my bionic... I've been plenty happy with .232. No issues at all.

If we dont get it... then just use the leak! Lol.

As I pointed out in another thread.....people using the 232 leak got that sometime around the first week of July I believe. It's entirely possible that they've now been using that longer than they were able to use 905. LOL! If that's not the epitome of a "release" I don't know what is.

no you can't. Anything 235 or higher can't be rolled back. You'll brick your phone if you do.

yea i just read your 6.7.244 post on xda and got my answer. thanks! the reason i investigated this is hashcode tweeted that he updated the bionic development to .244 so i was seeing if this leak was different than the no return leaks but i guess not.

He's gonna wish he waited. I missed that tweet while I was gone, but, I put out 246 support in the House of Bionic while I was camping. (yes, on a netbook tethered to my bionic via foxfi, I downloaded the 246 update, added support to the HoB, released an installer, and updated my phone.....from a camper. :D) All the 235+ builds have the same security. That's good and bad. Bad is that you can't FXZ back to 905 should something go wrong. Good is that because they all use the same security, my HoB can move between any of the 235+ builds. Should 244 actually make it OTA (unlikely as a snowball surviving the depths of hell but possible) then those of us on 246 can use the HoB to revert to 244 without losing data. But it's still a dangerous game we play without being able to roll back to the last official build.

just to be clear if you take the .235+ leaks if moto decides to make one of the leaks a OTA. your utility will put you back on the right path to get OTAs again?

You have to understand what an OTA release is to understand the answer. "Leaks" are nothing more than updates that haven't been released. An OTA release is a build that's made it through all the testing and acceptance criteria and approved for release. That is the ONLY difference between a "leak" and "OTA". So once they choose what build is going to be OTA then we can install it using the HoB. I can us in between any of the 235+ builds so far, so, if they choose 244 then all of us on 246 will have to downgrade. If they choose 246, then those on previous builds will have to use the HoB to upgrade. Same process in both instances.

but but using your HoB tool to downgrade/upgrade to the leak moto chooses as the OTA, would put you back on a working OTA path again? and this may be a silly question but in all the reading i have done across various forums i haven't had it answered, how are the leaks put out? does moto just send them to random phones or are they just uploaded to a website some where?

That's what I was trying to explain by explaining the "difference" between leaks and OTA. There isn't one. So yes, if you're installing the same build using the HoB that is pushed out OTA, you're good to go.

Oh and as far as how leaks are gotten....that's done via cheesecake. At least, it was until everyone moves to ICS.

ok that answers that question. so basically as long as they pick a leak with the same security as the .235-.246 leaks then you guys are good to go. but if they use the .232 or earlier, or some new security past .246 then you wont be good? sorry for all the questions lol
