Thank you. BTW, I just jumped in and tried HOB to go from 905 to 246. Had been hesitant to do so opting to wait for OTA but changed my mind. Glad I did! One question though. Between my wife and I we have two Bionics, and I have never been able to get Motofail to work on either one no matter how many times I've tried it, but Razr Edge always works great for me. Is it possible to maybe provide an option to use Motofail or Razr Edge within the HOB for rooting? Just a thought.

There's a precedence for not releasing the latest leak as ota. It happens all the time. It's not strictly up to moto as to which one gets picked.

You can use whatever root exploit you want. There's a root directory in the house of bionic dir. As long as your chosen root exploit has a run.bat the HoB will use it. So just replace the contents of the root directory.

It's not so much what version they use, as it is how it's numbered. If the only difference between 246 & 247 is the patch, and the OTA has the patch, I'm wondering why it is listed as 246.

On a related note, it also makes me wonder if HoB's 246 now has the patch to get on the OTA path. I'm going to go to it and read through it maybe tonight or tomorrow anyway when I get ready to update. Just haven't had the time to yet.

They confirmed it today. Bionic gets jb! Moto rocks! And the 246 build contains the same jb patch that was in 247. Moto snuck it in at the last minute before 246 went up on the server. And I have personally verified that the leak I put out in HOB is identical to the ota build. We're good!

I can't provide any answers, but I would contribute this to the discussion. I noticed when my wife got the ICS update for her rezound, it came in 2 downloads, a patch for GB to prepare it, and the the new OS. Is it possible that this is the boat we are in moving forward to JB?

No they slipped the patch for jb in 246 at the last minute. There was no real technical point to 247. I think moto might have been hedging their bets to get us jb at all costs.

I will say this I was down on Moto big time however they may keep me on board now with the JB announcement (however if they move to non user replaceable batteries as the standard like the Rzrs - I'm out). The Bionic is finally seeing it's potential - better late than never I guess.

There apparently isn't any difference at all. 247 is identical from what I understand.

I might be mistaken but it looks like Sam changed the latest version of hob to an fxz install exclusively. At least that's the way it appears on his main page at droidrzr.com. I haven't downloaded it so don't know for certain...
