6A or wait for 7?

I'm on the fence. My 2XL is dying a rapid hardware death; and i'm considering just waiting for the 7. On the other hand, the 6a seems like a helluva bargain. I'm torn!

I don't NEED a 7; I only buy newer phones to future proof them a bit as i like to keep phones for 4-6 years, or basically until they stop working.

Is the Pixel 6a a five year phone? Or should i really wait for a 7/pro if i'm going to try to push it the distance. Thanks for thoughts/input.

I use my phone for the usual web/email, emulators, some gaming, etc. The only thing i wish the pixels had were micro SD expansion and 3.5mm headphone jacks, but other than that i love them, couldn't go back to another android phone (my wife wants me to get an iphone...but no, not ever happening.)

I got a 6a bc of the trade in credit, made it like $200. I'm gonna use it till the 7 comes out then use the 6a as a trade in credit for the 7 pro

Why the 6a:
Already available
Size and weight is perfect (I came from a P3 and now on the P6P, but when I tried holding the P6a last week it felt just right)
Cheaper

Why the 7:
Tensor chip v2
Slightly more RAM
Better screen

For cameras, I don't mind the P3 sensor that is in the 6a. Unless you take a ton of videos, where the newer sensors are definitely better.

Tough decision actually... I would also be ok with either one. Though with the cheaper price of the 6a, it can be a 3-4 year phone instead of a 5 year one.

There are some outstanding trade in deals when buying the 6a. If you can buy a 3a for a decent price it will get you $290-300 in trade when buying a 6a.

The other option which i'm considering; is wait until the 7 releases, and then try and get a screaming deal on a 6, 6P, or 6a. I'm really all about paying $200 for a decent phone over having the latest and greatest.

The pixel 7 will clearly be better than the 6a. slightly bigger screen, 90 hz refresh, slightly larger battery, newer chipset, better build all for $100 more. But that's not to say one can't go with the 6a if you want to say tha $100.

That's what I like to do as well.... B&H photo/video always picks up leftover new stock and sells it cheap. You can pick up year old flagships for under half price from them if you check in occasionally.. I picked up both my pixels that way :p And they're brand new, factory sealed, with the full factory warranty.

It's the way to go if you don't need the latest or greatest ;)
