6X not updating to Nougat...

I think Huawei/Honor pretty much lied about updates.
Maybe the EMUI overlay just doesn't play well with Android OS updates or they don't have the expertise to successfully implement.

Not a big fan of EMUI anymore frankly... (thank goodness for Nova)

Who doesnt lie about updating their products?

Very difficult to recommend the honor brand to anyone after having 3 of their phones now.

Honor will disappear as a brand for US consumers soon with little to no support servicing.

Well the fact that the honor 9 didn't come is a telling sign. And the honor 8 and 6x aren't selling well. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see another honor phone in the usa

I believe there are enough lower line phones from other makers that have pretty much run the honor brand off.
Not to mention year old flagships that in my opinion are a much better buy than midline phones trying to look like a flagship.

You bring up good points and I will be honest that I have an unusual fondness towards the honor 8. But looking at things more objectively, you can pick up a v20 new for under $300. Or you can buy a current generation phone like the g6 for $400. Moto also has competitive phones in the lower price range and while it's not flagship performance, the lower end has been improving in usability drastically that a $200 phone is perfectly usable for most people. Moto isn't good in updates but they haven't abandoned phones as of late as honor has and their warranty process seems better now that they implemented changes from the warranty lawsuit that they lost.

I think that Huawei entered the usa market half hearted and it just isn't working.

That's too bad. I'd love to see them succeed. I like their take on Android - just a little bit different from everyone else. But they need to make a commitment to software updates in order to be taken seriously.

Marketing just isn't there in the US right now. I see them sponsoring big youtubers to promote their products but that's it.

Is that really a way to reach a wide audience? I rarely watch YouTube smartphone reviews, except for Mobile Nations (iMore and Android Central), especially Mr Mobile (Michael Fisher) and Modern Dad (Phil Nickinson) - my 11-year old son thinks they're hilarious!

Yoop and it's very sad since they have a great community following here on AC.
They do. I liked the 5x despite its deficiencies and the honor 8 even more. I tried to give them time to see if they will change their practices but nope. they are taking too many short cuts here to be considered acceptable.
