It's folly in that it's impossible. The market won't support it. Apple fan-boys (and fan-girls) will not migrate from Apple to Android. We're talking about two related markets, not one unified market. The vast majority of the SAM for Apple and the vast majority of the SAM for Android are two separate populations. The intersection of sets, people who could go either way, is very small.
The Android market is already thick with competitors. Motorola's competition is other Android tablet makers, not Apple. Android's competition is Apple.
Again, there is confusion between Android and Motorola.
Google wants as many of these things in front of customers. Which is exactly what they are doing by making it open and inviting in every Tom, Richard

and Harry to make Android based phones and tablets. This is exactly how Google has displaced Apple as the number 2 installed mobile phone base.
And the exact same game plan is being followed for tablets. In a very short time, Android will displace iOS as the number one platform.
Motorola wants to make a profit for it's shareholders. They have no interest, nor should they have any interest, in a break-even business model. They are not here on this Earth to promote Android. They are here to make a buck. The same reason Apple is here. The more bucks they make by bringing us the very best in equipment, the more they will be driven to bring us ever more incredible equipment in the future. That, my friend, will create a loyal following. ;-)
