8/4 - third party. 7/28 - direct sale? its looking like it.

In this picture the Droid 3 has aa release date july 14th, the release date for third party retailers. The smartphonne when directly labeled by verizon uses a (3) and this paper uses a (III) which leads me to believe that this leak was from a third party retailer, which means the release date of july 28th could very well be correct when bought by preorder or direct sale from verizons website and august 4th for third party retailers.

I think there was some speculation that the leak was from Sam's Club due to the similarity it had to a known Sam's Club leaked screen shot. That would support the theory that it is indeed a 3rd party leak.

I mean it makes sense, I highly believe the aug. 4th is for third retailers. I mean,, we've seen so many people say they've had verizon people confirm july 28th as the release date, and that's 2 weeks and a day away

No he means preorders would begin on the 28th and the official release would be the 4th.

Let's hope so!! With recent events its all finally starting to come together now! I mean I can't imagine verizon is gonna leave a phone this big in the dark without letting everyone know about it! They have a lot riding on this making huge sales and being a success! Can't wait to see that first bionic commercial

Vzw and third parties get it at the same time so that is the release for verizon and everywhere else of aug 4. Hence preorders start a week before which is July 28.

I think it's a breakdown in nomenclature. I believe that he means that online orders will start 7/28 and will be available in stores (including VZW stores) on 8/4. This would be consistent with the D3 release in which online orders started 7/7 with in store release on 7/14.

So then 3rd party retailers would get it a week later after the 4th? Or is there not a delay in the release between VZW corp stores and someplace like Sams Club and they would both have it available on Aug 4th? I was thinking someone mentioned that "3rd party" retailers always get stuff a week later than the official release date.......

There should not be a delay. It should be released to all brick and mortar stores, VZW corporate and 3rd party alike, on the same day.

Direct fulfillment orders (online/telephone) or preorders might start a week before that. Although none of that is confirmed (nor is the actual release date).
