808 vs. 810 processor...Your reaction?

The Snapdragon 808 was definitely a better choice. The 810 is a disaster of an SoC. Throttles to about half the speed of the 808 and it still gets hotter. Even the 805 performs better in some situations, and without overheating. It's no Exynos 7420, and the 808 has a weaker GPU than the 805, 810 and 7420, but as long as it doesn't lag, it should be fine.

The A57 are not power efficient bud, those are the powerful 'big' cores, the A53s are the power efficient 'little cores'. The 808 has 4 A53 low power cores and 2 A57 high power cores, the A57s are the ones that are power hungry, they are the reason why ARM Developed the Hexa Core and Octa Core configuration as if the chip only had A57 it would have major thermal issues.

The A53s do most of the work but when the work gets heavy the A57s are thrown in e.g. when browsing a heavy web page, playing games, taking pictures etc... Some chip makers like MediaTek have Octa Core CPUs based on 8 A53 cores, thats to keep production costs down and power consumption low.

The Snapdragon 810 has 4 A53 and 4 A57 as well as a more powerful GPU, BUT the A57 cores heat up far too quickly when active, causing aggressive CPU throttling and causing the phone to drop down to the A53s quickly.

this is exactly why I pay 0 attention to specs

I don't remember anyone saying that.

The difference between 720p and 1080p is significant, but that difference becomes more and more minimal but still significant when the screen size is smaller. Likewise, the difference between 1080p and 1440p is far less because the pixels are already so tiny on 1080p, that it's difficult to see much difference. I put my HTC One M7 next to a Galaxy S6 and honestly, I thought the S6 was 1080p.

The same applies for 4K. Like I said, a 49" UHD 4K TV has a ppi of 90. On a phone, it's a whopping 800+. But ask yourself this. Is it worth trading battery life for all those extra pixels that serve no real-world benefit?

4K will not change my tune. 1440p is the max phones should go for and I applaud LG for using a new display tech rather than just adding more pixels, unlike *cough*Samsung*cough*

If you didn't notice earlier, my whole post about having 4k displays was sarcasm. Let's be honest nobody needs a phone with 1440p display just like nobody needs a phone with 4k display. Nobody even needs a phone with full hd display. Its all marketing and it works. Sure full hd and 1440p displays are nice to have but otherwise absolutely unnecessary on mobile devices. Battery life obviously suffers but still these phones sell millions so clearly nobody is bothered about decrease in battery life. So in the same way 4K will also be nice to have.
I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Its just specs war and marketing that makes us think we really need these features even though we don't.
My current phone has a qHD display( not a QHD display) and you will probably freak out if i told you that qHD is enough but that's how things are. Samsung fans will freak out and run out to buy the Galaxy S7 with 'Amazing new 4K AMOLED display!!! ' and iPhone fans will run out and line up when Apple releases iPhone 7 with 'Retina 4k display!!! and everyone will be frothing at the mouth in amazement how much better 4k looks comapred to their last year's Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6S. That's just how things work.

Cant wait for the LG G10 with its hologram display like Tony Stark had in Iron Man 2 lol. Then the argument will be that the Galaxy S11 has a bigger hologram...

Well, if what I heard is true and the 810 does have heating issues, then I understand why they went with the 808.

Nice comparison. G4 is consistent and higher overall than the flex 2. Hopefully real life use for the normal consumer holds true. I'd like to game without overheating lol

Which games are you playing if you don't mind me asking?? I've been looking for some games that.....

1. Look good
2. Fun (addictive) to play
3. Don't take up too much space....although now that we have more internal space, shouldn't matter much.
4. DON'T drain that much battery life

.....lol, yeah so thats where I've been as far as gaming goes :)

im a nerd so i play, from most played to least, Marvel Contest of Champs, Marvel Mighty Heroes, Modern Combat 5, Dead trigger 2 and i just downloaded Marvel Future Fight. I deleted Injustice, Arcane Legends and Shadowgun: Deadzone after the plethora of Marvel releases lol.

MC5 and DT2 eat battery quick. The others not so much.

Thanks man! I'm gonna check out the Marvel titles since I was a comic nerd growing up. I know I'll enjoy those :D

I disagree. I can tell my friends S6 looks sharper than my Note 4, even not side by side. It's a color saturation thing. If you ever try Google Cardboard or Gear VR, then you'll see why 4k would be nicer. Plus, I can tell my screen is much easier to read and nicer than an iPhone 6 plus (just wish I had the same damn standby time they do).
