.890 OTA Update

The OTA ate my cell signal. :(

Everything was working pretty well before the update... I had the blue tint on the camera, but that's about it for problems, so I was looking forward to the update.

Installed the update, when the phone restarted, it wouldn't acquire a cell signal. Tried putting it in airplane mode to see if that would make a difference by turning off and on, and it hung there with the airplane on the top bar. No matter what I and Verizon tried tried, the cell signal wouldn't come back to life.

Verizon said I should have my replacement tomorrow.

I have noticed significantly less home screen lag, menu lag, and almost no redraw. The camera has lost it's blue tint in low light conditions, although it does look a little more blurry but it could be a dirty lens since I noticed the plastic was a bit smudged but haven't retaken pics with flash to make sure. The geotag bug for pictures also appears to be gone - it now shows my correct location rather than some random field in pennsylvania. Google Talk now has video, although I have not fully tested it, at first I thought it was broken when testing it but it turned out that the person on the other side (uaing firefox on a pc) had issues with their equipment.

I received the OTA yesterday. The changelog seemed like mostly updates to the Vzw bloatware. Couple of things I noticed, camera is crisper, Gtalk does video chat and it works. No difference to call volume or speaker, they are still on the lower end compared to my OG Droid. In all, while not a significant update IMO, it's still nice to see Moto/Vzw pushing updates.

I got the update yesterday so I have been using it for about 12 hours.

My D3 seemed pretty fast before so i haven't noticed any speed difference.

The battery indicator shows full 'til the battery is 80%. It used to show movement at 90%. The camera software is improved and no more blueish pics with flash.

I am waiting to observe an improvement in siganl fluctuations and signal dropping to 1X and back to 3G. so far so good.

Do you have any switch apps (i.e. something like switchpro) installed to turn airplane mode on and off? I noticed this issue with my phone today, a reboot always fixes it. What also appears to partially work is to try to make a call - I will get an error saying calls can't be made in airplane mode (which my phone is not in, confirmed by the settings page) and asks if I want to turn on cell radio. If I click yes, then it sits for a minute or two trying to "turn off" airplane mode, fails but the signal comes partially on - I can make calls, but no 1x or 3g icons, and bars are white, not blue.

Anyone have problem with swype turning to spanish? Wife got the update and it changed cor her. Changed it back to english but when it asks if add to dictionary its in Spanish but rest seems fine.

Nothing like that. The most I have is LauncherPro.

Something definitely went south during the OTA update. I left the battery in the phone overnight with it powered off since I reverted to my OG Droid until my replacement got here. When my replacement arrived this afternoon I popped the battery out of the old one and put it in the new one and pushed the button to turn it on... Nothing. Not even a start-up screen. Plugged the phone in and the battery level was 0%. It was over 70% when I shut off the phone 8 hours earlier.

Go figure.

Thanks for tryin' to help trouble shoot it though.

I believe that was discussed in the first page or two of this thread. It seems to be a common issue. You can change it in the swype settings. From what I have read, Swype has its own language setting separate from the rest of the phone.

I tested the camera a bit more, and it does look grainy and blurry indoors; outdoors looks "glowing" - i.e. white or light colored areas look like they are glowing. I don't recall what the camera looked like before, the blue tint was too distracting for me to make a lot of use out of it. Anyone else confirm that while the camera lost blue tint, its overall quality went down?

I am very surprised that Android Central did not write an article about this. The guys must have been caught up with the 500,000th member giveaway. Phonedog had it... Oops

The screen turning off problem is likely an option in your display settings called pocket detection.

I "installed" the OTA update today... bricked the phone. Had to take it back to verizon and am expecting a replacement tomorrow. I wasn't rooted, everything was stock.

Pocket detection was not on.

Mine did it while I was at work. I didn't have enough time to worry about what was going on. One thing I noticed: The app drawer loads waaay faster. It was embarrassingly slow before the update.

Like many of you, noticed the Swype switch to Spanish. Changed that in the Swype settings and then noticed that "Add to Dictionary" and "Delete Word" prompts were still in Spanish. Lovely.

Go into Manage Applications, Swype, and do Clear Data and then it'll pick up your phone language settings to not have prompts and stuff in Spanish any longer.

Is anyone else having issues with videos and pics not loading?

Everytime I try to watch a video it says "Error, file can not be played. "

When I open a picture the pic shows up pixelated and just says loading, and never loads.

The UI seems much faster (no lag) using Launcher Pro as opposed to the stock moto blur laggy nonsense
