8GB Acer Iconia A500 $230 at Best Buy

since sunday, BB email said that i should pick up on december 5th until today. today, i went to BB site to check the status and it's now backordered. :'( Sux. any idea how long will they ship my tablet? i hope that i will get it before Christmas.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but, the 8gb a500's were a special order for Best Buy and maybe a couple other retailers.

Usually, they only come in 16 and 32gb. This would probably explain the backorder. I suspect BB didn't expect such a huge response. But at that price, I can see why

I'd love to have one here, for testing purposes. but the 8gb isn't offered outside the US. Just be patient, they will ship them.

I bought mine from Costco for 220 and it came with the official Acer Neoprene case. This tablet is awesome for that price point. Love this thing!

You can get the 16 GB Acer A500 from JR.com right now for $289. They are factory refurbished, which means they have passed all the performance tests that a new tablet would.

I originally ordered an HP Touchpad, but I sent it back and ordered the A500.

I was one of the first people to order the 8GB A500 from BB and from day one until now they said it would be at the store on 12/5. I talked to the store, their truck has come and gone, not tablet for me.

The ones who had it sent to their homes started getting them last Wednesday and all of the people I have talked to that have received one, got it in the mail. They also got the Acer case with it as well, a $28 value.

I called customer care again and got a nice lady who said she would sell me the 16GB version for $50 more which I took her up on. At least they have them in inventory.

The A500 16GB retails for $400 at BB and is on sale for $350 right now, but they offered it to me for $280.

They have also left the 8GB one on order for me, so when it comes, I can return the 16 or refuse the 8GB version.

Wow. That is great customer service. I haven't had much dealings with BB, but I had great customer service from them when I was chasing the A100 deal on Black Friday. Actually, I was pleasantly surprised.

I also had been sent the emails stating that 12/5 was the estimated store arrival. It wasn't until Friday, 12/2, late in the afternoon that I got the email stating that my order was almost ready that it was in transit to the store. No new arrival estimate provided.

Late yesterday, 12/5, I got an email stating that my ship to store order was delayed. No details of what was meant by that, but it stated options available to me such as "finding another store or warehouse in your area with your item in stock" or "ordering a similar in-stock item" or finally "cancelling your order".

I called Best Buy and the rep stated that it had been shipped from the warehouse and was on its way, but she also kept stating that they didn't have any and were waiting for more. I asked repeatedly if she could confirm that mine had actually been shipped from the warehouse and she kept telling me "yes".

So I only hope that the delay email I received was essentially an email stating something like "we didn't get it today, just keeping you updated". It certainly could have been more reassuring than it was.

Sorry to hear that the ship to store ones seem to have messed up. I'm happy to say that the one I ordered arrived last night, and it's great (did come with case too). My wife is already in love with it.

Now if only Asus would release the Prime so that I could have a new tablet too...

according to BB emails and the UPS tracking # they provided for me, my tablet should arrive 12/8. ill let you guys know whether or not i receive it and if i get a case.

The rep on Monday had also told me a 12/8 date, I forgot about that, but she didn't offer me a tracking number. Maybe I should call back and ask for that!

I got mine delivered to me on Tuesday, and with this being my first android tablet, I am definitely pleased. This definitely holds me over on getting a new laptop for now.

Picked up mine from Best Buy today. Very please so far, especially with performance. Thought resolution might be slightly higher, but I do love the resolution through the HDMI out. For me, the jury is still out regarding Honeycomb. Still pleased overall.

one negative aspect i've found that i've heard other have also had is some wifi issues

I have read several posts mentioning wifi issues. How do you know if it's the tablet or the hotspot device? I have had my Acer for 2 weeks now and when I tether from my Thunderbolt the wifi is pretty consistent, when I tether from my PC using Virtual Router it is very spotty even with the tablet being about 6 inches away.
