9.7" randomly restarts itself?

So I noticed yesterday that my Tab A 9.7 was on the Samsung logo when I opened the smart cover. It's about the 3 time I've noticed it had restarted itself. 90% of the time I turn off the tablet while the battery is being charged. So why is it restarting itself? (no new update installed or offer)

Some devices will automatically power upon plugging in the charger -- do you know if the Tab A 9.7 does that? If so, then perhaps the charger plug is loose or being jostled a bit, such that it loses contact briefly and then establishes contact again. The tablet might perceive this as you unplugging it, then plugging it in again, thus triggering a power-on.

Thank you B.Diddy, it's restarting while sitting on the table (not on the charger). I'll open the smart cover and it would be Samsung screen

I wonder if the power button might be defective. Perhaps it's sending false signals that it's being pressed when it isn't.

Could be. I'm going to take off the cover for awhile and see if that makes any difference (maybe a bad cover?)
