i believe this home replacement gave my phone a VIRUS!!! once installed my phone lagged something insane...so i do a battery pull...and i get stuck at the "4G" screen at start up...i did about 3 more pulls and i got passed it and then i had a black screen...im so fed up with this and i have no idea what to do...i have never had this problem before so i guess i have to run to sprint and have them fix it...and they better do it fast...

is there anything you folks can advise i do???

i also did another pull and now im back where i started

Something in the install went bad not sure what it can happen. At this point you are headed for a hard reset you can try it yourself or Sprint will do it for you in the store. I would also post a review in the Market on that app page and let the developer know he flubed up your Shift

if i could get to my setting (which i cant) to remove the app i think i would be fine, but i cant get past this black screen again with the notifications bar at the top, so i cant get to the market to do so right now. im so frustrated and im sorry if i come off wrong lol

If you want I can tell you how to hard reset but you will lose everything your shift will back to like new the day you first turned it on. you will loose all your contacts all the apps you have loaded everything. Still that's better than a Shift that doesn't work

I can't remember if I synced my contacts with goole or not and I don't wanna risk it..and If I can find my usb cord and look up the app and remove it I might be able to cure the problem lol

ok i changed my mind i want to know how to factory rest lol

If you can't get into your settings to do a factory reset you'll have to do it from bootloader. Power off your device, once it's off, power on by holding the power button and the volume down button at the same time. Hold it until your phone goes to a white screen. After it runs through a few checks it will take you to a screen that will list factory reset. Scroll down to factory reset by using your volume rocker, then use the power button to apply.

You can export your contacts to a .vcf file on your SD card if you want to make extra-sure you don't lose them. You do this from within the menu in the Contacts (or People, or whatever it's called) app. Then do your factory reset. Once you've reset, if syncing with Google hasn't brought all your contacts back for some reason, simply import contacts from the .vcf that you created (it will still be there...factory wiping doesn't wipe your SD card).
