My old Tab 2 and my Galaxy S5 Mini both have one button you can press that will list all running apps. This allows me to do 2 things:

1. Switch quickly between apps I'm currently using.
2. Easily close all running apps with one press of a button

How do I do the same on my Note 10.1 2014?

The help screen says to swipe from the right of the screen, but this merely opens a menu of seemingly randomly-selected apps, not the apps that are currently open. Also this menu appears to offer no way of closing all running apps.

As Bosbouer replied , just press and hold the Home button. The side menu is a list of apps you are allowed to use in multi window mode. Do yourself a favor and open up YouTube, type in Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 and you will have a ton of lengthy video reviews, how-to videos etc. You now own a powerful versatile tablet so you might as well invest 2 hours of your time to learn how to use it.

If you root your tablet you can download xposed framework and change the menu key to a recent apps key(same as S5mini).

Or you can use Nova Launcher Prime and set up a simple gesture on screen for that. When I am on my home screen I swipe down with two fingers for this access.

Yeah nova launcher prime is really good. I was simply suggesting the free option because the tablet by itself costs about five hundred dollars and some people do not like the idea of paying extra money for a tablet that costs that much.
