first post.... first time android user.
Ive been with apple for years but the small screen has forced me to look elsewhere.
I received this one X 2 days ago...
other than the learning curve from switching OS's, Im fairly ok with this change.
I may use this as my 'new to android/htc question' thread
:)

3 things are killing me and I am not sure that any of them can change.

Visual Voicemail....
there is none. this is the best phone on HTC's lineup and there is none? my daughters 50 dollar htc has visual voicemail.
the 3rd party apps stink.
this may be the deal killer on this phone.

the ringers/notifications are extremely quiet.
I have the sound settings high. I have the quiet ring on pickup off and i have pocket mode on.
yet I honestly can barely hear this thing.
I am going to miss calls/texts/emails because of this..
what options do I have?

Finally, is there any other way to wake this phone other than the top sleep button?
the angle of the top makes it a bit tricky to wake this phone.
is there a way to program the bottom home button to wake the phone? or to use a volume rocker to wake it?
I miss my iphone's home button waking this phone for me.

thanks all.

Search the forum for solutions for Visual Voicemail. Most 3rd party apps are functional enough but are not visually appealing. Sounds from my One X are pretty darn loud. Go into the Sound settings and make sure all three sound levels are max. In call volume can only be adjusted while in an actual call (use the volume buttons on the right side). Sadly there is not other way to unlock the phone without the sleep/wake/power button on top.

ok.. Im wondering if i have a bad One X then..
I am not overexaggerating.. its very quiet

You can get the Visual Voile Mail app to work. As in, the good one from ATT that is at this point not officially compatible with this phone yet. I went into ATT and had one of the guys there sort it out for me. Took him a little while to figure it out but it's up and running just fine. If I couldn't get it on there, the phone would have been going back.

if mods do it around here, feel free to close this thread.. or let it die.
i took the oneX back today.
the lack of stock vis voicemail and the ringer/notification stuff just was making me unhappy.

good luck to you all.

I will say that the oneX has a truly amazing screen and I was really digging the battery life.
its just not the perfect phone for me.

Man waits for perfect phone.

Sorry if the OP ruffled your feathers, but he made three totally legitimate and understandable points about the One X. Great phone, but it does have some shortcomings, especially coming from the iPhone.

OP is completely correct, i traded in my iphone last week and went with the One X, as much as I love this phone, the three points he brought up also exist with my phone also and has made me want to return it.. I'll have to wait for S3 release before returning it back to them.

When you are selecting a ringtone make sure that your volume is all the way up while in those screens...it's called "media volume". This will make your ringtone louder. Also, make sure you place the phone in your pocket glass side towards your body. That way the speaker is always facing out. I guarantee if you use the "old phone" ringtone you will hear that as it is really loud.
