They finally came, got mine and my wife's SF's. Setup was rather easy through the easy 1-2-3 directions. So here come just a couple of the questions from the Newbie>>>

1. How do i get the Google Search bar on a screen?
(one of the first things i did was delete the stupid Bing Bar)

2. Is there a way to keep the softkeys illuminated for a longer period of time?
(I work nights and they go off awfully quick)

answer for 1.
step 1 http://forum.androidcentral.com/fascinate-roms-hacks/33899-how-root.html
step 2 http://forum.androidcentral.com/fas...11-got-google-widget-works-now-bing-dead.html and bam u got google :)

for question 2
the lights i think i seen somone say its a bug with um cause im with you there i work the graveyard shift from 11 pm to 7 am and it sucks how fast they go off, http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate/35697-its-little-things-mater-softkeys.html so lets hope it gets fixed in 2.2

God how I long for the day when they make the softkey LEDs available for notifications... As for knowing which is which, you will get used to it before too long. It took me a few days but now I don't even think about the lack of illumination, my thumb just knows where to go for back, home, menu, etc. The only thing I wish is that the damn search button could be turned off entirely since i find myself always accidentally hitting it if i am holding my phone at my side.

If you don't want to root just install LauncherPro and you can download and use the google search widget.

Except that when you execute the search it routes through Bing. Now, if you use Voice Search it will go through Google so there is that.

It can be done. My search button doesn't work at all. Thing is, I have no idea how I did it. It just happened.

Interesting. Maybe I will try swearing at my phone more often, and loudly; it should get the picture eventually right?
