Did you have attachments that was in your old messages transfer over to your new pixel 10? For some reason mine didn't.

not a Pixel guy, but I've never had attachments or pics transfer over, whether via Google backup or Smart Switch. maybe I've been missing something.

Yes my pictures that I've sent/received from Google Messages transferred over when I set the phone up. I set up from an existing android device, used my S24U camera to scan the QR code and it transferred everything over really easily. Took 20mins max. No problem at all.

It has been an issue in the past and images typically don't transfer over, but it worked for me this time.

All my pictures/gifs in Messages have been transferred over and have been through several phone switches. I also used the scan method, but didn't transfer my apps. One of my apps changed, but I figured it out.

That's interesting. They're suppose to. Never had that issue with smart switch and I have thousands of messages like over 10 decades (I know that's bad) lol
to clarify: after making the switch/transfer to a new device, I don't go scrolling through all of my messages to confirm if pics made it over. also, I used Samsung Messages until they started deprecating the app, so I've only been on Google Messages for a couple of years. lastly, if I receive a message with a pic I need to save, I save it to my device with cloud backup. it's when I happen to look at my newest message threads after the switch, I notice that pics don't make it over. of course, I don't care since I've already saved them if they're important.

I just wiped everything off the P10 and did a custom install. Once I did that all the mms pictures came back in messages.
