A little upgrade loophole.

I noticed something that is somewhat of an upgrade loophole. I found this out after Verizon told me that I could get an early upgrade (my upgrade isn't till October) on my second line which has an iPhone as long as its a 4G device... So what did I do, I activated my backup iPhone to my 1st line (I have a galaxy nexus) and the second line already has the iPhone. So I called customer service and told them to put notes on my account that I can upgrade to a 4G device so I won't have any problems at the store.

Went to the store, bought 2 droid razr max for $199 each. I put them on ebay and they sell for over $500. That is an easy way to not lose your last upgrade before the change and make some money for yourself or to buy another phone at full retail like the S3. I now have my Nexus activated again. Oh and by the way I asked them at the store not to activate the Maxx that I will do it myself at home so they wouldn't take out the stickers or anything.

Just curious. You said your second line got the upgrade and you implied you have ONE upgrade available on that line. How did you buy two devices? You're not clear.....so obviously you upgraded 2 lines then?

How did you NOT "lose" your upgrade? You chose to upgrade so you gave that up.

And activating your iPhone on your other line, which had a nexus....this has nothing to even do with your upgrade.

I'm a little lost on one aspect of this "upgrade" that was done. How were you able to buy subsidized phones without losing your unlimited data plan?

I'm confused... my sister-in-law has Galaxy NExus unlimited, plus two additional lines. The additional lines
were upgrade-eligible. she upgraded the 3rd line to a GS3 for $199.(bought from Verizon's own website)
She activated the phone.

The next day, she de-activated the GS3 and then put it on the line that the Galaxy Nexus was on.
Worked fine ever since and without affecting the unlimited plan. The 3rd line now has the old
clam-phone on it and no data plan required.

I think this is a very well-know method for long-time VZW customers. I would do the same, but
the GS3 is such a crappy phone compared to my GN. I'll probably do it when the GS4 arrives
next year! :) I have 4 lines on my family plan. Line 1 has unlimited, Lines 2/3/4 were eligible
for upgrades as of 2007 and 2009, respectively.
