A New Depreciation For Sense

I ran a version of CM on my og Evo and loved it. I despise Sense on this new Evo LTE of mine, I'll be going the CM route very soon.

With all the financial troubles HTC is going through, you'd think they would trim the Sense development budget and be more likely to release a "Nexus" like phone. Sigh I can only wish.

I tried CM10 a week or so back and was overall very impressed. The deal-breaker for making it a daily driver was that video in apps didn't work. So, no MLB At Bat or Netflix.

Does anyone know if Netflix and other video is working in the most recent builds? It'll be my daily driver once that's working.

Haven't tried Netflix, but I know YouTube has been working well for the last few builds. Also know that if you want Flash, you need to TiBu from a previous ROM and restore it, or save the apk and install it manually once you're on CM10.

Alright, well I'm running the latest build of decks ROM now and I did a quick overview video of it earlier. YouTube was being stupid tonight so it'll be uploaded sometime tomorrow. I'm going to be doing a followup video after 24 hours or so on this ROM so if anybody has anything they want me to test or mention, now would be the time to let me know.

Does the camera work the same? I depend on using the two step shutter release for composition. I use "scenes" a lot and in particular HDR.

There are some things I will miss about Sense (facebook status when people call is cool) but the lag will not be missed.

funny, i'm on stock and never have issues with lag or anything.

I didn't have too many issues with lag but once you try just jelly bean you'll see the difference. Everything is just much more fluid and natural.

The camera software is not as robust as Sense but it does a pretty nice job. I'm not seeing any continuous shot mode or HDR but Google added extra camera functionality in jelly bean that is not bad.

Having young children, the continuous shot mode is very useful. Hopefully it can be ported to a ROM.

there's no lag, but multi tasking is a pain. always restart the ohter app when i go backto it. this is extremely annoying w/ games. been debating if i should go back to a nexus. if only the camera on the nexus is better, then it's perfect. haha. one thing i don't want to give up is the camera on the evo.

Two step shutter seems to work for me but the shutter speed isn't as fast as on a sense ROM yet. Just a tad laggy. In my opinion HTC makes better camera software but Jelly Bean's is by no means bad. Personally the stock camera app isn't ready to fully take over from Sense for what I do but I'm going to try some 3rd party apps today and see if I can get any better usability. I'll make sure to overview all this in my video.

EDIT: Here's my initial video, from yesterday, I'll work on the new one tomorrow or Thursday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oendyg9N8As
(Please excuse the awful jump cuts and vocal fillers, I'm out of practice)
