A Nexus 4 Question from A Newbie

Hi all!

I'm still new here in the forums. Used a Galaxy Note once before i left months ago returning to BlackBerry, then coming back to the Android community after having my Note 2. feels like am becoming even more fond towards the Android world - basically because it's customizable and having a large pool of devices to choose from, giving more options which i really like. :D

one question i wanna ask and here's my story. right now i am rocking my note 2. but at the same time, my frequent@daily visit to AC and talks about nexus 4 seems to pull me towards having a Nexus 4. i'm still in love with the Note 2, but at the same time the urge to get a Nexus 4 becomes stronger day after day. i just don't know whether because of it being a Nexus bearing stock android - and of course, Nexuses will be the early batch of Android phones to enjoy updates, or because of the hardware design. i've read some reviews about it, yeah some say the camera's not that good, and the fact that is comes with a non-removable battery and having no sd card slot.

but, i just don't know, the urge to get a nexus 4 is there, plus this thread (http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-4/265803-nexus-4-total-fail.html) which has made me become even more envious.

so i'd really love to hear on your opinion whether i should get one (and still keeping my note 2) or just better-off with the note 2, coz after all they're just the same thing - Android phones with Jelly Bean :)

It comes down to if you need it or not for me. $400 is a bit to lose on uncertainty. However I was the same as I was going to get one when my phone broke, repaired it and got the nexus too. I didn't regret it. I love the nexus four. Both are great, I'm guessing its a choice you have to make with slight desire vs opportunity costs.

I came from the Note 2. I sold it on 3/28 and purchased a N4 the next day and I dont have any regrets. Yea the Note 2 has a big screen and awesome specs and features but I didnt find myself using them all too often so I dont miss them. The only thing I miss about the Note 2 is the camera options. It definitely had more features than the Nexus. I also was getting LTE speeds on ATT and now im down to HSPA+ speeds which are like 1/4 of the speeds I was reaching with the Note.

All in all I love my Nexus and I cant seem to put it down. It just feels so right in your hand! The Note 2 was definitely an eye turner but the N4 definitely holds its ground.

now whatever the pros and conts are, after hours of consideration - at last, i'm a proud Nexus 4 owner! yeah!!

Congrats and welcome back from the BB world. I just got my first BB this morning...work forced it on me, but I am trying to convince them to go with Android (Samsung enterprise solutions or whatever they call it) since we are on the old Bold 9700 still.

I own the Nexus 4 and a Note 2. I bought the Nexus 4 because I love pure Android and it is a bargain compared to similarly spec'd devices.
I have yet to use for more than 3 days before switching back to the Note 2. It is a great device! I miss some of the small features that come standard with the Note 2. That said, I don't stay on the Note 2 for more than 3 days, either.
I have also learned that I want a 5" screen phone. The Nexus feels small at times and the Note 2 feels rather large at times.
Battery is no comparison. This is probably my biggest issue. Coming from any other phone may make the Nexus seem average. The Note 2 makes it feel completely inferior.

Other than that, I really enjoy the Nexus. It was a good purchase. My personal taste would be for a 5" screen, bigger battery, a 32 GB option and a few more standard features (battery percentage standard- I'm aware of apps in the store, option to change text notification from displaying message and a phone keypad search.

Now when using both devices I realized that i think that the Nexus 4 to be more luxurious - it feels great in the hand, the minimalistic design really appeal to me - not to mention the glassy back. There's a feeling that I'm not sure on how to express, but it just feels great. Maybe it's just because I'm used to holding the gigantic Note 2.

By the way, here are some pics of the unboxing :)

come to think of it, i'm very glad and excited to know that i was one of the few lucky ones (only 3 - 4 units available off-contract in our town) to get the nexus 4. and suddenly my Note 2 felt like not a flagship as it was, as the Nexus feels very good, and I'm in love every time I see it, although I'm very very very sure that if I were to mention the name Nexus, almost everyone in my circle won't even know a damn thing about Nexus devices - and I'll have to explain to them what's great about Nexus compared to other skinned Androids..

other than feel what can the Nexus do that the Note 2 cant? I mean the Note has the extra features but you dont have to use them. Turn them off or get Cyanogen mod.If you want "stock" android simply install CM 10.1. Note 2 has the big screen, big battery, SD card AAAAAND LTE. I would stay with the Note 2. Just my opinion.

Well both are great anyways.. i'm still using the Note 2 as my primary device and the Nexus 4 as a secondary. I dont prefer rooting, done that with my old zte tablet but didnt worked well (maybe i did it wrongly) so i decided to stay with the Android version that comes officially with the device.. that's just my 2 cents though :D
