I have T-Mobile, and am getting insurance. I am ordering it through Samsung. Which insurance company is better, the Asurion OR the Samsung Insurance, and why.

Cellphones are one of the few things I wouldn't insure, unless it was extremely cheap. So lets say you use your phone for 2 years, Samsung insurance costs what, 130$, + $160 for a device swap, and it only covers three swaps. Most protection plans don't cover water damage, so the most you would ever get replaced is an LCD. A galaxy S7 LCD is $150ish- $200ish.

If you really want to get insurance, I would get it from Samsung, just because you know they will use OEM parts for their repairs.

I have never had any luck cashing in on any of my protection plans, I paid $200 for a device, I needed a charging port replaced, and they wanted $99. Now that I repair phones, I know how much of a rip off that is. I can replace a charging port in under 15 minutes, and it will cost me about $3 in parts. (Not just replacing the assembly, I re-solder the port.)

None of them are great values. do you have a history of breaking your devices. It is a bit of a risk of course but you are better off to just set aside money to repair the device (if and when it is needed).

Put a case on the phone and maybe a screen saver if you like ( i do not use a screen saver), and most likely you will be ok.

If you do have a history of breaking phones then i would go with something like SquareTrade.

I have tmobile and it's 10 a month and 175 deductible for a s6 edger. Samsung Care is 99 deductible. Yes my s6 is cracked. I'm hoping I can sell it for 100 or so
