Now, this isn't going to be a deal-breaker for me since I have been sold on the phone pretty much since it was revealed at CTIA, but it's still kind of a big deal to me.

I know that the EVO supports multi-touch in the browser, photo gallery, Maps, and on the home screen for the Leap feature in the newest version of Sense. So.... how about the virtual QWERTY? Is it multi-touch aware?! Meaning when you are typing with 2 thumbs (at a fast pace) will the keyboard register 2 keys being touched?

I owned an iPhone for quite sometime and became VERY comfortable with its keyboard because, though it wasnt very spacious even when in landscape, the fact that it registered multiple key touches made it very usable.

I have heard great things about HTC's custom on-screen keyboard, but have never had the chance to use it. I have however used the Vanilla Android keyboard on both the myTouch 3G and the Samsung Behold 2 and I have to say it was downright AWFUL! It was actually one of the biggest reasons for why I returned the myTouch just 2 days after I bought it.

So, does anyone know the answer to my question? Like I said, I have heard nothing but good things about HTC's on-screen QWERTY and also I am hopeful because I know that the EVO features the new maxxTouch screen from Amtel.

No Clue but I'm Pushing for Swype... I've used that on a Mytouch its pretty damn kool...

Preordered My Evo Already i feel like little kid all over again

yeah, I figure there will be a lot of keyboard add-ons and customizations available for the EVO just like any other Android phone, but I have never really been a fan of any of that. I like to keep my phone the way it comes, just a personal preference.

And i know how you feel, I haven't been this excited for a phone since I was a teenager in high school waiting for the release of the latest Sidekick, haha. I can't wait to pre-order mine next week!:D

I currently have the iphone keyboard installed on my htc hero and it works the same way as it does on the iphone. Instal a program called Smart Keyboard and it works great.

Thanks for the info, but like I said, it's my personal preference to use stock keyboards and not use any add-ons or customized ones. That's why I was asking about the stock HTC keyboard that will come on the EVO.

If its anything like the incredible keyboard it should be very fast and responsive. The one thing that I hate is the haptic feedback is turned on at stock settings, so I just go in and turn it off. The reason I dislike the haptic is that it is always slower than the actual inputs and seems to trip me up when typing thinking I miss hit a key.
