I had a samsung galaxy before my current phone. It was alright. Then, Christmas of 2012, I got an Optimus Slider. Much better than the Galaxy, I really like this phone.
A few months ago, I noticed I'm not getting 3G anymore. No matter where I go, even in places I KNOW I got strong 3G before, my signal displays a green 1x. This is more annoying than detrimental, as I can still use the phone, just not as fast as it should be. Recently, I've become increasingly annoyed, as the 1x will display 5/5 bars, but I'll get so little data, my internet radio can't even stream, and the browser will tell me I have no internet, even at 5/5 bars. There are also times where the 1x will disappear, and the signal turns white, showing my internet dropped entirely. This phenomina of zero 3G, as well as the symptoms above, have been going on since February, up to present day.
Well, I've been lurking here awhile, and have finally decided that yes, I want to root my phone. However, my question to you is, should I call Virgin Mobile FIRST, and ask about the problem, since I have a feeling when they remote troubleshoot, they'll notice it's rooted? Or, do you guys know what the issue with my signal is, so I don't even have to call Virgin?
