A way to increase the Refresh time for Gmail?

Maybe I'm overlooking something, but I can't seem to find a setting for how frequently Gmail will check for new mail.

It's 4:38, and the last email I got was at 3:11, until I manually hit Refresh, then I got a slew of new emails!

Help a dummy out! Where is that setting?!

Thanks!

Gmail should be push if you have "Enable always on mobile data" checked. Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks

I thought the gmail application was a push system? I just sent myself a test email from work to my gmail and it came in less than 30 seconds. Are you using Mail Application or the gmail one?

I checked and I had that setting correct, but interestingly enough, the setting just above that - Mobile network - said "mobile network failed" when I went to the settings. I deselected it, then re-selected it, and it now says connected.

Wonder if I am just getting crappy signal where I am here at work...

Does Gmail still work if you disable this? I read some where that it will still work??

yes i can confirm that Gmail PUSH still works with that setting off. there is some debate as to if it still works after a 2+ hour straight sleep unless/until woken up.

the thing is my phone rarely sleeps for 2+ hours unless i am sleeping so i'm cool.

i am still testing.

I have the exact opposite experience, if i turn off "Enable always on mobile data" I dont get any data notifications (gmail/gchat) until i turn on the screen. (note i dont see a 3G icon when it goes to sleep, but it appears after i wake it up).

Edit: it seems to disconnect from 3G minutes (not hours) after it goes to sleep. And my office building I'm in has Sprint 3G repeaters so signal strength isnt an issue.

12 hours moderate usage is not really acceptable. cant wait for the 3500 sedio
