A yearly trend - Note 20 Ultra

I swap SIMs between iphone and my Samsung 5G phone but it is not a special 5G SIM. I was not aware that there is a different SIM for 5G for Verizon. I'm not paying for 5G at the moment so I really haven't looked into it but it was my understanding that I didn't need a special Sim unless you know something different.

Verizon told me this sim is not compatible with the iPhone. This is the sim that came with my Note.

I currently own an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and have owned it for about a year or so.
Not sure why exactly, but, every year, around this time of the year, when a new iPhone is being/has been announced, I start the search for a new Samsung device.

It is almost like a yearly itch, that never goes away. The problem that has happened in the past, is that I switch to the 'latest' Samsung device, and within 14 days, I end up returning it, for one reason or another.

Well, here we are again, the itch has begun. After all, the Samsung Note 20 Ultra, does look nice...!

I didn't plan on upgrading my Note 10 Plus, until AT&T offer $1000 off on upgrade. LOL

That's not true. It will work in any 4g LTE device. I have been using it since the S20 Ultra came out and switch between that and my Note 10+(non 5G). You notice know difference with the 5G sim when using it on any 4g device.

Yup. I had a little argument with Verizon about it. It’s because I was using the 5g SIM card. Verizon told me my iPhone sim wasn’t compatible. Now I realize they lied.
Smh... verizon unbelievable , T-Mobile free

When I hooked up my note it adds a charge and 5g to my actual Verizon plan.
When I switched back to my iPhone I get a refund for the 5g plan.
The prior link I posted doesn't work so I posted an image. According to Verizon your 5G SIM card should work in an 4G LTE device. A 4G LTE SIM will also work in 5G devices but may not work in future enhanced 5G networks. SmartSelect_20201004-145014_Chrome.jpeg

Sounds complicated. My carrier doesn't charge for what little 5g they have installed in London. But it isn't available anywhere else as yet. But same sim card works for all devices. Just 2g cards won't work as Three only supports 3g, 4g LTE and 5g

Interesting... thank you. Verizon had me calling them every time I wanted to switch because apparently they don’t know wtf they are talking about LOL

If you just swap SIMs you will know. So when you put the SIM into your Iphone the charge comes off your plan or you have to call?

Verizon only charges on certain plans to add 5G. As an example my particular plan doesn't include 5G. There are plans that include it but I don't know if they are cheaper or more expensive because it depends on what else is included or excluded within the plan. I don't intend to switch plans until 5G is saturated. 4G LTE is faster than I need and my Optimum WIFi is even faster.

I think it's human nature to sometimes think that we are missing out on things - like the latest Samsung if we have an iPhone. The whole, "grass is greener on the other side" conundrum is a beast! I feel that way a bit now that a new Pixel phone comes out and I'm using a Samsung phone (but I still love it). The phone universe is a tough place to live!

I have the same, I wanted Imessage and facetime to my mom and I like the space and storage

but

the browsing is very choppy browsing forums, the web browsing on the iphone is just not too good, slow, choppy and the 4 gigs of memory shows when browsing.

Iphone is made for apps....

So I was considering the s20 ultra since it's much more memory.

I also have the airpods and apple watch gen 3 so I may package them all off together.

I don't know. I'm not happy with the browsing of this phone though.

Ahh gotcha

I hear you!
Might be time to invest in something like LastPass...

I am in the same boat as you, this time every year I get the itch switch away. I always seem to just return to the iphone. I am only a few days into using the note 20 ultra, and so far this thing has yet to fail any task I have thrown it. I am currently typing this using a portable monitor with bluetooth keyboard and mouse and dex. I also have apple music open and playing as well as other apps like messages. This thing is screaming along with out a single issue. I had sms worries with sending and recieving them like in the past. So far there hasnt been a single issue with any of that. The only frustrating thing is that all my accounts passwords are saved on my iphone and those dont transfer over. While I am trying my best to not pick up my iphone its really hard when I need my account information.

Well, here we are with the start of a new week. For the moment, I am holding my nerve. But, at this rate, it might not last long.
The Samsung Note 20 keeps calling me. This is just ridiculous...

To add, like someone else pointed out; I own a AWS3, AWS4, multiple leather cases, wireless charger and 'virtually everything' wrapped up in the iOS ecosystem. Ugh, the pain - LOL
