Hello
I finally caved in and rooted my V. I'm very happy.... Gingerbreak worked great. Now I'm thinking about ROMS. I've got two in mind Bumblebee and Harmonia. My question is.. if I do this will everything currently on my phone be gone afterwards?? such as contacts.. email setup for hotmail and the various other things that need to be setup ? TIA

get titanium backup from the market and backup your user apps (not system) next backup your phone, reboot to recovery to do so. now download your rom. Reboot in to recovery again and wipe everything but the SD. Now flash your rom. When you log in to Google your contacts will be restored, download titanium from the market again, and use it to restore all the apps you backed up earlier

Or if you want a free version that does the same thing for your apps and their data, you can use my backup root.

First install titanium backup, click backup/restore and backup user apparently.
next u should replace clockwork with a better recoverymod
All your contacts are saved over Google so u don't have to sort about that.
BTW I've tried asopcm7 and bumblebee so far. Asop has more tweeks but I didn't feel like it runs nearly as smooth as bb
