Abrupt stoppage of streaming

Dang, yeah I know how you feel. I can only recommend going into your router settings and mucking about, one option at a time, and see if it improves it. For me it was the security option, other people just changed channels, so the solution might be different depending on your model/provider/etc.

Man, ive done all of that. I cant figure it out. As soon was the indicator goes grey its fubar. I dont know what to do besides not use it. I've give something else a try and see.

Well you can say blasphemy but i used my macbook to use its wifi to create a wifi hotspot but my xoom doesnt even find the signal even if i type it in. Says "not in range" wow sooo bad...

My xoom still does the grey-out thing, but the connection stays and streaming doesn't stop. I'd give them a call at this point.

Well, I figured what it could be, its the connection between the xoom and my router. I managed to connected to my macbook and it worked like before with out the problem. But now im not sure to fix the connection between my router and xoom.

OK i finally fixed it. It was the security settings on my router. So far it seems to be working perfectly. Thanks to everyone who helped. :)

I find that You Tube videos start out looking good, sharp, nice audio - then "stop". There is a lot of discussion here about this problem but I don't see any answers being offered....help please !!!!

For me its about the connection. If you don't have a good internet connection then it gets messy. I had it more on 3.0 and don't see it anymore unless its buffering.

well i was back to square one again with this issue after the 3.2.1 update friday. Bugged me the whole time up until today. I went thru this post and tried everything again and nothing. So finally went in and changed the wifi setting on the zoom for my network. Just hold on the connection and modify network and change to a static connection and workin like a charm. Dont know if anyone else will face this issue again but thought i would post this up just in case!!

I am experiencing the same problem - streaming stops abruptly with gray wifi icon. I have tried the following but none of them worked for me:

- increase xoom screen timeout to 30 minutes
- change b/g mixed mode to g only on router
- channel type changed from auto to manual in router

I got my Xoom wifi on Friday. Turned it on for the first time, and it immediately wanted me to do an update, but I was intent on streaming YouTube videos for my daughter to show her the new toy, so I postponed it. Everything streamed great! I applied the update, and then network usage was buggy. I can't even load this site completely now. It gets all the way to the point where it loads embedded video or images at the last second and then freezes. Trying to download any files or streaming anything is erratic and works sometimes but not others.

So, it prompted me for another update... I applied it, and no change other than it got worse and can't load anything now. I shouldn't have to tinker with my router to get a device that was working great before to work again. Is a new patch coming soon? My Xoom was rendered only useful for the games I have loaded now and useless for anything else. This version I have now that stinks is HTK75D.

When I click some links, I get a gray screen that just sits there. If I sit here and touch the screen a lot to keep the screen alive, it sort of works for downloading new apps from the market, but it freezes a lot. I have tried it on the routers (my house, parents', and in-laws') with the same result each time. The in-laws' router doesn't even have any security enabled.
