Abysmal cell reception on ATT/Verizon Note 8

About 3-4 months ago, while with AT&T I started noticing terrible cell reception on my phone. More than 80% of my day (roughly) I've got 1 or no bars. In certain spots it'll spike to 3-4, but those spots are very far and few. Places I could normally get signal for years...I can't any longer. Thinking it was AT&T I switched providers to Verizon and the issue's followed me.

My question is this....what hardware can I replace that could be the culprit OTHER THAN the mobo. Does the charging port board control cell signal at all? If the coax antenna cables are bad could they be the culprit? If they were bad...would I be getting good signal in certain places at all? I'm at a complete loss here. The phone's immaculate and I love it still, but not getting signal's a real PITA. Thanks so much in advance for any assistance.

I posted the question above, but forgot to log in. Thought it'd let me claim it later. =(

Not unless it blows other parts of the motherboard.

Absolutely.

Could be - if the signal is weak, due to a bad cable or a bad antenna, or a cable not fully plugged in, you'd only get good signal where you got great signal before. (But once you get good signal, you don't hear any better - due to the capture effect, once the signal captures the receiver, stronger signal doesn't do anything.)

Because the coax cables connect the motherboard to the charging port board....I'm thinking the cheapest repair order is cables, cp board, mobo. Does anyone know what each board is responsible for maintaining /operating on each end of the coax cable, or does it just make a circuit for voice and audio? Sorry.. I realize it's a weird question. Just trying to understand. =)
