Access bootloader on an Android TV box (M8S)

Hi, could anyone tell me if there is a typical way to access the bootloader on an android TV box? Like a combination of holding down OK and pressing power on the remote control or something similar. I have a box that I'm trying to update android on but it wont do it normally so I want to flash it with a new version. Thanks in advance

This box never updated beyond Lollipop. You need the firmware specific to the device. If you are flashing firmware you shouldn't need to unlock the bootloader. What are you proposing to flash?
