Accidentally blocked unknown source app, how to unblock?

I accidentally denied installation of an APK when the warning popped up about potentially unsafe app and now the check always fails and the installation doesn't start. I don't know how to whitelist this app again so it installs.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Settings > Apps > scroll down to Special app access, then Install unknown apps, then enable it for whichever app you denied it for.

The Nexus 6p phone is running 8.1.0 with November 5th, 2018 security patch level.
