accidentally deleted/hide contact number

Not sure exactly what you're asking what did you hide, and where did you used to see it?

I tried to change a mobile number in one of my contacts and it deleted the whole contact. I had to way for him to call, to get his info again.

...that's sounds about right. In the future, sync contacts with gmail, so if you lose the number, you can choose to display gmail contacts over SIM or phone contacts.

You mean like a confirmation message? I dont believe so. Once you get his number again, save it to your phone and select contact type as Google. It will be saved to your Google account.

Okay, I know I'm doing this wrong. I went into backup/restore and set the location to my Gmail address. Then I ran a backup using backup assistance. It said backup was successful, I wanted to check to see where it went and could not find it.

When you create contacts do not save them as phone contacts instead save them as Gmail contacts and make sure that in your sync options for the Gmail account sync contacts is selected disable the VZW backup assistant completely.
