Account action required - Lock screen required

I have a Note8. I receive an alert that account action is required for my gmail account that is tied to a web page I administer at Wix. The email address uses my domain rather than gmail.com. The alert takes me to a screen advising me that company policy requires it. I can't skip or change accounts - it goes right back to this screen. I have to hit the home key to get out of that screen. I reluctantly set a PIN. Later, I changed it to swipe and now I'm getting the alert again. Why do I get this now after many months of using this phone and years with this (among others) email account?

Unfortunately those policies are strictly enforced and won't let you use the account unless a secure lockscreen is present. Maybe something changed in the security policy of the domain? Only way 'around' it is to set up the e-mail in an app that supports app-level security instead of phone (like Nine, I use it because my Exchange account requires the same thing and would disable Smart Locks... with Nine, any policies are enforced within the app, not to the whole phone and I can use Smart Lock again)

I'll check into Nine, thanks for the info. I went to a pattern, a little quicker than PIN or password, but still something I'd rather not have to do in the first place.

And now I find out that Nine is $14.99 after my 2 week free trial... I missed that when I downloaded it.
