Ace 2 Kies update problem

I've been trying to get firmware update via kies as no ota is available.

i get to firmware upgrade progress page, phone shows downloading but there is no progress bar.

it's been this way for over an hour.

I'm using an XP machine, Windows 7 kept saying usb not recognized during the download process.

any advice, I'm getting really anoyed

Have you tried using another USB lead? it does seem the problem lies with the computer or perhaps with the version of Kies you have downloaded.

Uninstall kies from your pc and install a fresh copy of Kies again from Samsung.com than make shore that all the Samsung drivers are installed. That process is slow and tedious. After that you connect your phone to your pc and wait for the drivers to install again and finally you can update your phone.
