I'm an ex NookColor owner, a family member needed a tablet on the cheap, and now I'm looking at getting back into the tablet ownership arena soon. I really like the portability of the 7" form factor, and have found these two intriguing options that should both be coming available in the near future. Heres the information I've found for the two.
Acer Iconia A100:
Pros - Definately the powerhouse between the two. runs on a Tegra 2 processor, has the same 1024x600 resolution as the NookColor, and Natively runs on Honeycomb.
Cons: PhoneArena reports it having a 1530mAh thats good for 5 hours. Lacks anything like the RiteTouch Technology the VB 730 has for supporting a stylus. Also, I'm sure it will be the more expensive of the two.
Viewsonic VB 730:
Pros - RiteTouch Technology and an included stylus. Reported on Viewsonic's site to have a 5000mAh battery good for 10 hours, (not sure if that's a typo).
Cons - Resolution is listed as either 800x480 or 800x400 depending on what site you look at. Claims its fully intrigated with Amazon, no mention of the Android Market. Runs on 2.2 natively
It looks as though the Iconia A100 is the obvious winner, but it really comes down to what Viewsonic's RiteTouch Technology actually means, whether I live with a 5 hour battery life, and how noticable will the resolution difference will be. Does it actually make a difference in how the tablet interacts with the stylus, or can i just buy a stylus and get the same performance from the Iconia A100? I will be using the tablet for notes, but they won't be hand written. I prefer to use a swype type keyboard, but am very interested in the stylus for use with the swype keyboard, and for drawing diagrams, equations, and graphs.
How do you all feel about these two tablets? Thanks
